My daughter and I are studying Lipizzaner horses and the Spanish Riding School in Austris. I was wondering if anyone here has ever been there and seen a performance. This school is over 400 years old and the riders train for 10-12 years before they are allowed to be a huge part of these shows. It is like a horse ballet. I would like to go to see it but I do not have the money to travel there and to go to see the show.I didn find an American group that does some of the same types of things and I may go to see them this summer. Have you been there? Have you ever heard of this place and would you like to see it?

I've been there a few times, one time to a performance and a couple of times to the Morgenarbeit, the morning workout with audience. The later is quite good, you don't have to order tickets before you go, you just show up and queue :-) The workout lasts for about 2 hours, it is different horses and it is used not only to show the audience different horses (there are young ones and adult ones, groups and singles) but also to train the younger horses so they get used to the audience. I find it a bit fascinating that a lot of people seem to think that the "don't use a flash" is there to make life difficult for them, not because the flash might scare the horses :-)
