I think that's what it's called. Well, you know me guys, always moaning about things so - occassionally, I put this keyboard to good use.
I email..frequently! Or send "E Cards" - none of them offensive as I'm not into all that. They're set up on websites and I just ping them off, along with thousands of other people. It's amazing the effect they have on the Powers That Be.
Sometimes it will be a template email that a particular site has set up, other times it will be an email I've made up myself..it depends.
For example, I support Compassion in World Farming and they have various campaigns going on at the moment..so if it's something I support too, I help them out by forwarding emails on their behalf.
People Power my friends! It's amazing what can be achieved if enough people complain like I do lol.

Our alleyway has been getting on my nerves for quite some time. It is a private alleyway but the Council spent a lot of money erecting gates on our behalf. You would think the residents would respect this and improve their behaviour regarding fly-tipping?
Nope! They're still dumping crap left, right and centre and I, for one, have had enough. So I've emailed Carlisle City Council. I know that we will be bottom of the list regards a clean-up but that's not the point. The residents around here ALL need interviewing, including me as I've nothing to hide. There are two problems, one, many rent so come and go and two, they don't have transport so choose to dump their rubbish instead of getting it recycled.
It's one thing that annoys me a great deal..the fact that many people today aren't bothered about their environment but are the first to moan to the Council about everything else under the sun instead.

I suppose it's a way of expressing public opinion. Years ago snail mail was the preferred method but now, beam off an email and an inbox can get full in minutes. Saves paper too!

I've signed a fair share of online petitions, but I never kept track of what happened to them after that.
I've sent e-mails with suggestions to my town hall for about six months, about a change in a regulation, and nothing happened, I only got back an auto-responder thanking me for my interest. Then I went to the town hall on an unrelated business, and, while I was there, I thought I could try my luck with my petition again. I talked to a person, I put it in writing, and now it's pending to be discussed by the council in February
Either we're not a very high tech country, or the interpersonal contact still does wonders for moving things forward.

Yes, I agree. I have been tempted a few times to actually talk to someone face-to-face.
