What was the lamest excuse that you ever came up with coz you're late on a date?

I am never late on a date. But my dates before used to give me these lame excuses: TRAFFIC because there WAS an accident on the road when in fact he hadn't left his house yet, he had to stop by the GAS STATION when in fact he just woke up, his pet DIED when in fact it was his alarm clock that died, his ALARM CLOCK died when in fact his MEMORY of going out on a date that evening died... and etc. Got me all pissed off. Anyway, I learned my lesson. NEVER BE TOO PUNCTUAL. HA-HA! Just kidding.

I blame the old lady who lives downstairs in my building. She's always in front of the building, and she's desperate to find somebody to chat. If she traps you, then you have to stay and listen for 20-30 minutes, all about her cats and her nieces and nephews and the legal system and the government and the postman dating the cashier from the tea shop and so on.
She's a nice old lady actually, but I've become a master of avoiding her when I'm a hurry, I know exactly when to run out of the building so I don't meet her. But she makes an excellent excuse, because, if my date ever comes to visit, he'll meet her and realize she was real all along.
