don't you just trust the word you use to mean what it means rather than using too much punctuation marks? i know i'm a learner in terms of getting used to the english language and i've been trying my best to put an extra effort just to have a clearer communication. although i honestly admit that, if i am in the manner of joking, i tend to put more punctuations. but as i come accross topics, i always encountered the over loading of punctuations although it was not meant to bring a joke nor to show a feeling of angriness! i am not irritated but i am confused and so, you may bear with me anyway!

Well punctuations in a sentence are as imp as salt in your food. Without it you cant expect your food to taste good. Too less or too much salt spoils the food. I hope this comparision helps you to understand the importance of punctuations! Happppppppy Mylotting!

When we say salty, in spanish, it is Salado and that means like engagingly stimulating. In comparison into a discussions then I can say, is like an stimulant or an exciting controversy! Although as i have said earlier, I am not annoyed with puntuations being overused but I am misguided and misled!

First, let me say you write very well, and better than many whose primary language IS English. As for overusing punctuation, you are correct, many people do this. Not just people commenting on blogs or discussions, but "serious" authors, too. An exclamation point here or there is fine, but using lots of them, combined with italics, bolding, and other techniques designed to show EMPHASIS can be very distracting or confusing. Trusting the word you use to mean what it means, as you so aptly put it, is a better way of communicating, in my opinion. This is a very insightful topic. Thanks for starting it, and good luck on mylot.

I don't have the same problem with use of punctuation marks. That doesn't bother me too much most of the time. The only punctuation thing that really bugs me is overuse of commas. As an English teacher, I see it way too much! Comma splicing is evil! :-P

A beautiful sentence does not have any single comma. I heard that!

Oh my gosh I hate when people over-use punctuation marks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....... Lol just kidding. It doesn't really bug me at all. Everyone has their own way of writing and trying to express themselves online. A few extra punctunation marks here or there won't hurt anybody! Good luck!

Hi, I agree with you. Too much punctuation is not only grammatically wrong but also confuses the reader. It is not correct to use too much punctuation even to express exclamation. Only and only one mark is enough and correct. Using more than one punctuation marks like exclamation marks is considered incorrect and sometime abusive. I never use more than one punctuation mark and also advise my friends to use only one punctuation mark. Have a good day.

Hello! Indeed, I just find reading is a wholesome activity whilst writing needs a lot of patience and dedication and hard work. Although writing I can say is a little bit delicate compared to reading as we tend to be formal. I am not good at writing and it is only when I write that I can practice and gain the skills, not now but I know I will used to. God willing. Thanks! you too.
