My new granddaughter was christened on Sunday and my eldest daughter made her christening cake as a gift for her.
It was of course as beautiful as ever and as the babies parent's used to call her 'Bubbles' before she was born Helen tried to incorporate bubbles in the cake.
SO she made this small cake with a baby in an old fashioned wooden tub complete with lots of bubbles and a tower of cup cakes underneath.
One row of the cup cakes had 'rubber ducks' and bubbles on, the others had roses ( Olivia's middle name is Rose) and her name on.
I have enclosed a photo of the cake.
We had a lovely party with family that we have not seen for a long time, it was a very special day!
Do you celebrate baptisms, christenings or baby namings in your country or culture?

I remember thta your daughter makes wonderful cakes and once you had even made some for a CHarity event or so.Isn't it?
We do have special ceremony for naming the child , first birthday and in fact when the mother is 8 months pregnant we have a very important one, a religious function with plenty of prayers and mantras chanted by a prohit. THis is a very important one and research has proved that it has a very positive impact on the well being of the foetus too.
Regarding the naming ceremony, it takes place on the 11th day of the child where the child is made to lie on paddy and the name is written on it later.
Elders participate in the get together and bless the child.
THe first birthday is once again celbrated in the presence of a prohit, who chants mantras,a homam and also a ceremony where the ears of the child are pierced.
