If you saw a bus driver texting while driving what would you do? It doesnt have to be a school bus driver it could be any bus driver such as a city bus etc.
The reason I ask is a friend of mine saw her daughters school bus driver texting while driving. I told her I would have reported it. She said figured rather then report it she would just drive her daughter to school every day. I said thats good for her daughter to be safe but for the safety of the other kids still on the bus she should have still reported it.

Wow that is very risky, The buss driver should know he is driving a large vehicle which is harder to maneuver than a regular car and he have more passengers than a taxi driver and the lives of those people are on his hands. he should focus on what he is doing and cellphone is a huge detraction we know there are many vehicular accidents that happens because of cellphones. In my case I would report that driver so his bad habit will face some disciplinary action and he might end up putting people's lives in danger because of that.

I would do the same thing and report it. Even if the school doesnt have proof via video cameras or anything at least the driver will be aware that people know what they are doing and maybe wont want to risk getting in trouble so maybe just reporting it will make them stop. Then if they are caught doing it then they should be fired.

I remember there is a bus driver who smokes a lot inside an air-conditioned bus, he is so annoying and he doesn't know that people rides on air condition buses because they dont want to smell the smoke and pollution and here he is polluting the bus. I reported his but and he got suspended.

Its really torturing in my part because I was born with lung problems. I'm from a 3rd world country so some thigns are still not organized but I think my country which is a former US colony, should have progressed at this age because it has a literacy rate. The opportunities are just not there because of corruption.

It happened almost 1 month back. I got into a bus and after 15 mts. of waiting, he took the bus. It was less traffic and he was driving rash. I as sitting 3-4 level behind the driver side and I noticed the moment he left the place he was talking over the phone and after 5-7 mts of driving also, he continued. I become restless and the bus was full of passengers and overloaded too.
When the conductor come to collect the money, I shouted him and told him to ask the driver to stop the bus and talk and once he completed only to continue driving. He replied saying that the driver won't listen to us. After some time I had to get out of the bus and I come front side still he was talking and got down and moved towards the driver and made a lots of noise. He was simply justifying and he said, if you are scared, don't travel in this bus. This statement irritated to others also and all of them come up and started shouting and abused the driver. Finally he said sorry and he agreed will not talk over the phone, while driving. Afterwards I traveled on the same base for several times, and the same driver were there in the bus and I never noticed that he talk or text over the phone while driving.

Well I'm glad that by you and the others getting mad and saying something to the bus driver he had stopped texting while driving. Buses do not have seat belts on them the city buses or school buses so the people on the buses are in higher risk of getting hurt I think.

Hi dear,
You can imagine the use of a seat belt while having a look on the picture I have attached. Even though the topic I was discussed is not the same, but most of the places in our country, this is common. When a new bus is come out of the company, everything will be there (seat belt etc) within a few days, all will be removed. The train journey over here is the same but buses are no so crowded always.
If this is a typical case, you can image the rest of the things.
Regards,
Thank-s

I'd become panicky and paranoid, because I don't much like bus travel at the best of times and pretty well avoid it if I possibly can. If it was at night and far from "civilisation", I'd start praying. But if it was during the day and in the middle of a built up area, I'd hop off at the nearest stop and catch the next bus, muttering angrily under my breath as I did so. I'd not say anything to the driver, though, because I'm the type of person who tends to avoid confrontation, I'm ashamed to say.

I dont like riding buses because I dont like riding on anything where I cant wear a seat belt. I dont feel safe riding that way. If I saw a bus driver texting while driving I would say something for sure. I wouldnt like if he was driving and talking on the phone either but its not as bad as texting and driving is.

I would certainly get the bus registration number, and call the bus company to report it. I guess until its resolved I may choose to drive my kid to school, but at the end of the day, there's lots of other lives at risk than just ur friends daughter so I agree with you, it should have been reported. I hope she will do if he's a regular driver at her kid's school.

This isnt just a temporary bus driver. This bus driving is still driving other kids on the bus and I'm sure she is still texting and driving. The thought of a bus driver doing that is so scary. If that bus wrecks and say it overturns all those kids are going to be tumbling around inside it because the buses do not have seat belts.

Where I live it is legal to talk on the cell phone when driving but in the next state that borders ours it isnt legal so I'm sure more people talk on the phone while driving in my state then the one next to ours. In my state they have to pull you over for something like speeding before they can even give you a ticket for having your seat belt unhooked while driving but the state bordering ours all they have to do is see you driving by without a seat belt on and they will pull you over and give you a ticket.

If I am traveling in a bus than I will pray for my life and for the rest of the passengers life as well.
If anything happen to that bus which your friend is talking about then she will also responsible for any coming indecent to that bus in the future because she did not report to the authorities which is an escape from her responsibilities being an responsible citizen. So ask her to report against that bus driver who is playing with life of innocent kids. Its very very irresponsible behavior either the driver or your friend.

No I dont think its irresponsible of my friend to not report it. It is legal where I live to be on the phone and driving. She probably just doesnt want to get the lady in trouble. The least she could do though would be to confront the bus driver and tell her that she saw her texting while driving and she thinks that she needs to stop.

I agree with you. Reporting it would have taught the driver a lesson and could probably serve as an example to other irresponsible drivers out there specially those carrying passengers. Testing and driving have been proven to be a lethal cause of accidents here in our place.

I think I would report the bus driver to your local school district office.
This is unacceptable. She/he is responsible for the lives of a bus load of children...and texting is very careless.
If something were to happen, you would feel very bad about sot saying something sooner.

So how will she feel if the bus driver causes a wreck and innocent children are injured? I think she should report it. It is wise to drive her own daughter to school but sometimes you have to push it a little for other people's sake. The bus driver should not be allowed to drive children - that's too big of a chance to take.

A texting bus driver would not be a safe open. One moment with eyes away from the road would be all it takes to cause an accident. I would definitely let someone know what was going on. the safety of everyone would be at risk.

I think most buses have a customer service hotline printed on the bus. If I saw that, even if I didn't have a kid on the bus, I would have reported it immediately too! It's one thing for a driver alone in a car to be texting and be a danger to himself. It's another thing if that driver was driving a bus load of kids.
She should have called.

Here, every bus and trolley driver is glued to their phones! One handed and no handed driving is the norm. How many drivers can you report? Even the inspectors board the buses with a phone on their ear. The rules are here but who is going to enforce them? Every policeman is on the phone too!

Yes, you are right.
We should report to the relevant authority to take the necessary action against them.
Not all of the children are so lucky to have their parents to send them to school.
Maybe we are helping to stop certain criminal cases too.
