Is it possible for someone to be mute because of cancer?

I've been searching for reasons and other information about the relationship between hysterical mutism and cancer.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible for a child to be mute because he/she is suffering a deadly disease like cancer?

I think, yes. I have seen people changed, they were featured in TV, their appearance changed, to the point that it is really evident they were mutated, all because of cancer. No doubt, since cancer itself is "mutation of cells", it can mutate the person having it.
