Following a routine everyday...

Some people follow a regularised routine in their daily lives , no matter what ...wake up at a certain time each day and eat st the same time , take bath at a fixed time etc; No doubt we need to have a routine so that everything in our life is taken care of and enough time is devoted to each activity.
Is it good to have a routine or does it get boring after a while? Would you rather not bother with a routine and lead life the way you want without following any set pattern..

I think making a routine is very important when you are a worker in a company. I don't like to wake up in the early morning but because I have to reach the site in the time, I have to wake up early and it makes my routine. My routine is a little different on Sunday, when I sleep to my full content.
I think that is okay to have one day like that. I think it is good to have a single routine if it is a good one, like you include the early morning bath, exercises, work in the day, then some entertainment on the evening. If it is healthy routine then it is good to have that routine.

Hi sanjay, Most old timers feel that following a routine every day keeps them fit and healthy.Regualr habits like waking up, having your meals, going for a walk and regular sleep hours is most essential for life. But I wonder if it makes life more like a military campaign. No doubt it is great if you enjoy doing it, but otherwise it can become a bit monotonous and you want to just let yourself go once in a while ...thanks a lot sanjay for sharing your views and all the best , have a great week

Hi sanjay,I agree with part of what you say. But just imagine a person working in the same office or school for 15 - 20 years with the same people and same place and living in the same place....I am sure you would want a change . I feel that It is healthier for a person the have diversions in their routines every now then..

I think having a same routine will never make your life monotonous if you have there many people to meet everyday. It all depends on you. If you enjoy yourself then your life will never become monotonous and you will never get bored.
I enjoy the company of people and also I can stay all alone for a day.

Kiran, its a nice discussion. Here is what I feel, IT'S ALWAYS GOOD TO HAVE A ROUTINE. No matter whether its boring or interesting. I used to wake up at 5-30 a m in the morning since I was a boy. No matter whether its a week day or week end. When I go out, I can pick all my things from a particular place, say, my wallet, watch, cell etc. because once I return I put them in the proper place. It gives me a sense of calm and coolness.
Of course I have a tip for those who feels boring after a while. Just think of the PLANETS that are doing the same for millions and billions of years. We, after all going to do it for 70-80 years. :) Is it a big time. Not at all.
Hope I am rightly expressed my views.

Hi mouli, thanks a lot for sharing your viewsThere is a lot of sense in what you are saying. We have to be organised in our lives otherwise it becomes direction less. Most old timers were/are very particular about following the same pattern of life each day all their lives. As long as they are happy and comfortable with it, that's all that really matters...all the best and have a nice day

Very Good discusion Kiran!
I love to follow a set and fixed routine and I love doing it . I need to be at my work place at scheduled time before that kids need to go to school at the fixed time, so specially on working days, we are compelled to follow a stricter routine, else everything will go haywire. I do not get bored, rather I enjoy doing activities at the designated time. Our lunch time is fixed in office and dinner time is also fixed, in the sense that we take our dinner between 8.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.. Though the routine gets disturbed during weekends, but that cannot be helped because we can afford to alter the schedule on Saturdays and Sundays.
Have a great day!
Deepak

Thanks a lot deepak...I understand that while you have a fixed working schedule you have to follow a routine and any small variation can disrupt your entire day.But during holidays and weekends one feels the need to be more relaxed and do things at one's own pace - all the best deepak, enjoy your well deserved weekend

Hello Kiran,
As a working lady I too have routine, except on Sundays. If there is no special program on Sunday then I prefer to sleep some more time (catching up the balance sleep, lol). Sometimes I felt bored with the same routine on everyday but upto a certain extent it helps to finish the whole works within the stipulated time.

It's good for some things, ie school, work, house cleaning, but if you follow the same routine every day, all your life, that could be pretty boring.

I don't see the advantange of the every day routine, I understand the weekday routine but I like to be able to sleep in on off work days. I think that it depends on the person, some people need the every day routine.

Yes I agree ! I have seen some stay at home individuals who are very punctual and strict about maintaining their day today routine of doing things in an orderly manner. It probably gives them happiness to do so.But again as you say it is an individual's choice as to how he wants his weekends or for that matter even week days to go - all the best

Hi kawalnarang, thanks a lot for your response No doubt that we have to follow a routine as long as you have to work outside in a office, school or wherever otherwise the whole routine and day goes for a toss ...But once in a while it is nice to just do what you please instead of sticking to a routine - all the best and have a nice evening

I think it depends on the person. Some people feel really good with a routine, while others get really bored. I happen to belong to the second category, but I am fully aware of the fact that a lot of people do not feel the same at all...

Hi puccagirl, I agree! I notice that most of the working people are lost without their routine especially when they get a long holiday, instead of making the most of it, by the end of it they are raring to go back to their work spot and back into their routines .It is nice to have a balance...thanks a lot and all the best

I really dislike being tied to a routine. I would prefer to just go along with my day and see what comes of it. Of course I tend to the things that need tending to but I would much prefer to do it as I get to it, unless there is some kind of time restraint. I hate to be tied down by a schedule because I may not feel like doing a particular thing at the set time.
Boy, I sound pretty scattered don't I? I'm not really. I always take care of my obligations as quickly as possible. Then I can be free to let the rest of the day just flow naturally.
