With my first child, I tried to nurse her, but I had no success. I ended up putting her straight on the bottle. Maybe if I had tried a little harder, I probably could have made it work. I didn't, so oh well.
With my second child, I tried nursing again, and had better success with it. I was able to nurse him for 4 months before I had to go back to work. During that time, I also had to supplement sometimes with Similac formula. I never seemed to have any problems with that.
I'm pregnant with my third child, and I'm definitely going to try nursing again. I'm hoping to make a better success at it. Maybe I can get through a whole year. We'll just have to see what happens.

What kind of forumla did you use? I've always used Similac with my children.

I nursed all my babies. I nursed my last one the longest. I nursed him for 18 months. The others didn't go as well but I did last 6 months with my one under the baby. The best thing to do is soon as the baby comes out ask a nurse to give him/her to you to nurse within an hour or so if there are no complications.

I wanted to do nothing but nurse both of my boys when they were babies, but they wouldn't latch on and got too hungry. With my oldest, I succeeded for about 11 days. He cried constantly in that 11 days, so I gave up & gave him a bottle of Enfamil & he slept for 6 hours straight at 11 days old.
If I get pregnant again, I want to nurse, so I hope I have better luck with my third!
