Did you hear that Netflix Wants to get rid of their DVD's in two years? They want to go to switch to an on demand format. My thought was Wow, am I glad I a not a member! I am a dinosaur when it comes to new electronics. I still have and use my VCR. I don't own or care to own a flat screen t.v. The thought Having to give up DVDs Makes no sense to me. Will you use Netflix when it is only a on Demand service.

I wanted to try Neflix once. They said it be a free month to try it and then it would be like $9.00 a month! Wrong! It was not free and I was charged $19.95 for a month that was suppose to be free! I was so pissed I canceled my account right away! Never again! I'll stick with with DVD's from my home collection and the local video store!

The good old bait and switch! They will soon disappear if they get rid of their DVD's.

I read something about that, but didn't know exactly what they were talking about as I am not into that jandra either. I still have VHS and record things and play back! I have migrated to buying DVD's of favorites and replace the VHS to DVD when the price is right, but other than that...I'm a dinosaur too! IT was so much easier with the VHS!
I can see how they think this might be the "next generation" of tv viewing and all, and the "ship by mail" thing...the USPS is going to have fits cause they will be looseing that revenue of postage. But what about portable DVD players? Or taking a favorite movie to a friends? In this case, they (NetFlix) will be tied to that one tv. Sometimes in that one room of the house. IT can't be taken with you or viewed on portables, and what about those that don't subscribe to a TV service to get the pay on demand feature? My service offers it, but I don't subscribe to it.
I think they need to just sit and let things as is for awhile...I think they will loose alot of customers if they go "DVD-less"

If they do go DVD-less, and don't make all or most of their movies available for instant viewing, they will lose me as a customer. I just bought a cord that allows me to hook my computer up to the tv very easily, so I would still be able to watch stuff on a nice big screen. But if they didn't add to their instant viewing collection it would not be worth it. Too many of their movies right now are only available on DVDs!

I was a member for a couple of weeks but I couldn't watch movies on my computer for some reason. I called them and they checked it and said it was my internet connection..well..I'm wireless and I have a fast connection. I have never had trouble with youtube or any other video/show I wanted to watch..I just dropped them.
I have demand through my cable company..it's not the newest movies but that ok with me. It's an odd thought that they won't be doing dvds anymore.

to be honest all I have currently is a subscription through the nintendo wii and all i have is the on demand I just wish they had more movies that I like from the past available so hopefully if they do that the movies that currently you can only get if you rent with a disc will become available on demand too and that would be great.

I've considered using Netflix, as we are a family that likes to watch movies all the time, but I heard that the choices here in my area are very limited. So, I didn't.
Our cable TV service has on-demand movies available, but the dinosaur that I am (too!) still likes going to the video store and picking up movies. Of course there is still the headache of not being able to find the DVD's at home when it's time to return them, but the one stop shop of having games, really-really old movies, popcorns, sodas, candies at the rental shop still makes it worthwhile to have DVD's. Me thinks.

I had NetFlix for a while about 5 years ago. back then , I could put films I haven't seen in my queue and Finally see them but then I had less money coming and we moved and I left. In the meantime, I got more movie channels on Cable, and there were less and less new films I wanted to see.So now I don't miss having NetFlix.

I am a Netflix member, have been for years, and I LOVE it....but here are my opinions on their plans...
First of all, I'm very mad that they raised my monthly payment because my plan includes DVDs (the 'watch instantly' only users got their monthly payments lowered)...so yeah. Mad.
Now, if they made ALL their movies viewable as 'instant,' and they kept the lower monthly price for it I would be ALL for this. But I doubt that's going to happen, so I want to be able to get my DVD movies still. I have over 100 DVDs in my Netflix Queue!
