Nowadays, most of the people likes watching movies in the cinema, where they can enjoy a comedy or maybe a thriller.
This all movies(or the most) we watch in the cinema, are commercial movies, created to obtain a economic benefit, and where the actors and the equipment is based on the on the economic capacity of the producer/director/company that makes the movie.
There are also art films(independent films) where there's no profit. Most of the actors of these movies are not professional, and the ideas of the director/producer is an important part, and influences the film, that seeks to influence people.
Which one do you prefer: commercial movies? or art movies? Why?
I personally like both, because I think we can find a good message in almost all the types of movies.

I think that more people can get in touch with commercial movies. They have more in common with these movies. Art films caan be so much deeper to understand. Some people come away from art films with confusion. You just have to have an appreciation for art films to enjoy them.

I like both. When I want to see light themed movies I watch the commercial movies which usually have light theme in it. As for the other type, they focused more on social happenings and sometimes served as eye openers.

I hate to say it..But I actually have to go for the Hollywood/commercial movies. I just seem to enjoy them better. There are actually some pretty good, meaningful ones too. I've never seen an Indie/art movie that I've actually really gotten into before. Any ones to suggest?

To be honest, majority of art films are boring stuff, and they did express or represent a message, but some people might not be able to decipher those code instantly. In the opposite, those commercial give a straight forward message, and easy to process as an ordinary audience. Not many people like to use their brain while on entertainment.

Is it all in the name? Independent films are often very good in my opinion. But as soon as someone uses the phrase "art film", I know it will be a load of rubbish! I haven't been to the cinema for years but now this type of cinema is available in the Internet. You can download many films for free (legally) and they ask you to make a donation if you enjoyed it. I have seen some very good ones in this way. But it has to be said, there are a lot of disappointing ones too.

Hmmm... I must admit that both commercial movies and art/independent movies each have their positive points, but growing up watching commercial movies I would say that some of the plots or story lines have become predictable for me. Commercial movies have most often relied on "tried-and-tested" plots that seldom venture on the more unsavory side of human life. I do understand that show business is still a money-making business but I really like watching movies where I don't have to regret spending my money on. And independent movies most often show viewers that it's not afraid to be more creative. I think it is also a good thing that most of the actors or actresses in independent films are not much well-known since it's easier to focus on the plot of the film and not be starstruck.
