Hi Javeed,
Yes, i agree with the Einsteins statement! I'm not sure whether Einstein was himself like that, but rather than experimenting about him, I prefer to take his saying and follow it myself!
Being successful is good, but being a person of values is something great! For me success is something which we achieve. Its purely materialistic. It will be with you today and it will leave you tomorrow. And there is no limit to it as, success which you feel great today, will make you feel its not enough, i need to do more. It can be addictive sometimes, as in you go to that stage, that whatever it takes, i need to be successful. This changes you and your behaviour completely and sometimes it even misleads you to do anything for success!
But, on the other side, values are not like that. A person once born on this earth needs to have some principles and values in life. A person who thinks like, We can live however we want and do what ever we want irrespective of whether its good or bad or whether it will hurt others or whether it will bad for others, then there is no point in the person living and he is no different from the animals, Well animals too behave with some values!
Life has its meaning only if it is filled with values!
Happy Mylotting!

My personal comment is "It also subtly calls for those who have success but have not yet used it to help other people to pitch in,under the guise of leaving a much longer-lasting legacy." I dont think a man of value is a man who would want to help others.not that a man of value wouldn't want to.But for what purpose he choses to help others.

Well, though i don't agree with your comment, i don't find anything wrong in it. Maybe you are right, maybe i am wrong, maybe both are right.
well, we can't decide on it. Its just there are so many views to look into a single thing.
I liked your comment! :)
Thanks for sharing!
Happy mylotting!

That is right. You have to be a man of value. You have to do the things that a valuable man does so you'll be seen as one.

I agree with the Einstein's statement with out any doubt. I feel success is a thing which is achieved by every one in one's life. Each and every moment of our life is dedicated or devoted to have a success, may it be a small one or a big one.We are continuously attempting some thing or other in our life and the very fact that we are still existing indicate that we are successful in those attempts. Like a student succeeds his examination to climb up to next class. An undergraduate studies and succeeds to become a professional. A man gets married and succeeds to create a family. A women conceives and succeeds to become mother! Thus success is one aspect of two sided coin where other side is a failure. Normally since every one is successful in their lives these things are not considered a big things. But when a success is achieved in a competition, may it be in business, profession or any other thing it is recognised immediately as this becomes an unique feature. Thus in these terms if we speak there are many successful people who have attained this in their respective fields to engrave their names in History. But then the point is that how many of them do we really know? Perhaps first few names from the list of Forbes's publications! We only can remember some successful people like Tata, Birla or Martin Luther king etc who really have added their contribution to create some impact on society to get recognised them as the men of value! Thus I think success won't create impact on the society unless it is having some value attached to it!
I feel Einstein is a man of success with value added to his success as his inventions have given some absolutely positive contribution to human life. His success stories made the difference in human lives today in a great manner! Based on his success today we are in a position to understand the theories governing the universe! Thus his success has the positive impact on the society in general and the lives of man kind has got influenced by it!
Though it is irrelevant here, but I would like to discuss about Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was one of the great leaders who failed almost in every attempt he made to go against the Britishers to have freedom. Almost every attempt of his got failed for some or other reasons as a Leader. But it is the values he tried to incorporate in the people like truthfulness, non violence, swadeshi movement, they made him a man of values. Today we look at Gandhi with man of Values and we bow in front of him. Thus in my opinion to be successful is some thing different from being a man of values!
Thanks dear friend, this was a good topic of discuusion which made me to think a while before answering! keep it up! All the best!
