World cup discard Shaun Marsh propped up Australia on two occasions to ultimately post a respectable total of 230. Marsh came in first when Australia slumped to 4 for 33 and put on hundred run partnership with Cameroon White from where Australia again slumped to 8 for 142. Marsh then with tail enders took the score to respectable level of 230 completing his century in the process 110 of 147 balls. Partnering Marsh in Australia's win is Doug Bollinger who first with the bat helped Marsh to take the score from 142 to 230 with the individual score of 30 runs. He then opening the balling with Brett lee took 4 for 28 taking Strawss and pieterson in his first spell reducing the tourists to 36 for three. He then came back and took two tailenders to give a knock out punch finishing the England innings at 184 47 short of the target. Shaun Marsh was declared the man of the match.

I has always amazed me why a player like shaun marsh is kept out of the side when he has got so much potential. He has excellent technique, good cricketting shots under his belt yet he hasnt been much favored over other openers. Ofcourse shane watson is in brilliant form right now but australlians should be using them as a middle order batsman since he is not a big hitter like Marsh.

I don't think watson should be send in the middle order. In my opinion, its haddin who should come down the order leaving watson and marsh as an opening pair....a good left and right hand combination.......

When we first heard of Shaun Marsh when he played a brilliant innings in IPL-1 and he has performed very well in that season. He had not even played for Australia then. I think he was picked for the world T-20 based on his performance in IPL. It is the same selection story all over the world. Haddin has just been promoted to open the innings based on his consistent good performance. Marsh may be promoted to his opening slot based on this performance.

i mean what are they playing at.they already announced the squad which didn't include marsh, then why they are playing in a tournament which is pretty much a warm up before world cup.
look at the indians.they are not playing rohit sharma.they just like disgarded vijay.
lack of talent from the aussie soil? dont kid me.

With or without Mike Hussey, Marsh should have been on the WC Team & even test team.
We have all seen in IPL 1 that Marsh put immense value on his wicket & is plays both spin & pace equally well.
Of late, Australian Cricket board has made quite a few blunders regarding selection of spinners, captain , opening batsmen etc.
It came as no surprise when the board overlooked Marsh in WC squad.

Hi Divakar,
The Australians have bounced back from their poor form at the test series. They have returned back to their winning ways very strongly.England has been defeated by the Aussies continuously now.The English Batsmen are facing the troubles now. They seemed to be struggling against the mighty Aussie bowlers. The Aussies have took a lead 2-0.Shaun Marsh played his role superbly by getting support from the tail enders of his side.Without Marsh Aussies could have never thought that they are going to win this match.Bollinger also did well but it was the Left handed batsman Shaun Marsh who saved the Aussies from a bad slump.
Have a great weekend.

Marsh played a superb inning today. It was his century along with the performance of bollinger, first with bat and then with the ball, that lead today australia to victory which was previously looking impossible.
But, thanks to cameron white and bollinger also who provided some support at the other end along with marsh to set a descent target of 230. And, then good bowling by brett lee( good to see him back in action :D) helped australia to victory.
After, today's inning of marsh, selectors must have been regretting of not selecting him in the australian world cup squad.

You are right thunderfire Bolinger and White played a good supporting roll to Marsh to enable Australia win the match. At 33 for 4 they were in hopeless condition. Century stand between these 2 players brought them to life again 142 for 8 they were in similar position when Bolinger came to their rescue and gave the score respectability. Then again 2 key wickets of Straws and peiterson in initial spell and with 2 more of the tail enders, Bolinger was a strong rival for Marsh to become man of the match.
