Back in NOv. 2 months ago heaRT dOC ORDER THAT i HAVE A ULTRASOUND ON MY NECK SO GOT IT DONE ON THE 19TH OF nOV.
opps.
any way then I went t o hospital aon the 23 had stents put in for my legs. Went back to the heart Doc about 2 weeks later for follow up. BUt he wanted me to come back so went yesterday first visit no tlling me results of the ultrasound on neck and hadnt told me to bring in the disc about the stent placement. SO had to go get that and he looks at it I looked at it didnt see all that much either dont think his puter is up to getting a good picture.
WEll then he put that tester on my feet to listen to heart beat said it was fine and was giong out of room when nurse asked him if he had told me about my thoart results he said where is it she told him in my files.
Then he comes back asked some questionadn I said no to them all for I hadnt felt any of these signs????
Then he tells me I have to get a Cat scan done as the results said I had 90% blockage on my left side of my throat. But it wasnt all that accurat hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Now they are going to try to rush me to do the cat scan told nurse take her time I wasnt in all that much of a hurry hadnt been told for 2 months any how so why hurry now?
Dont you think the DOc should have let me known something when he got the results???
Why did I have to ask for the results then he gets worried!!!!????
HE is old not sure how old and might not be as old as I am but still think it is up to the DOctor to get the results to you they get the results dont you?

I think the doctor has a responsibility to the patient, that is for sure. But, I also think that the patient has to be proactive and ask the questions. Doctors don't always think from the patients standpoint and this makes me alittle angry. I think he should have been more informative. Maybe he is getting too old. Age can be impressive in a specialist but there comes a time that I think they drop the ball.

I would think they would be more organized. We as patients need to be proactive and get on them tactfully too I think.

It seems to me that the doctors are all overworked and too busy for the details. My nephew recently married a GP and she agreed with me that we should research our own symptoms and go to the doctor with relevant information. If he wants tests done, it is then our responsibility to ring the clinic/surgery for the results. If it's necessary for a follow up visit he will reschedule then.
Seems to me, if I wanted to diagnose myself, I would have studied to become a doctor!!!

I did call in for the results they didnt have them I called again later and they said doc would tell me when I saw him well he didnt and I hadnt thought about it att hat time but called and talk to nurse when I got home she acted like she had forgot that order for the ultra sound.
but she would look into it and get Doc to look at it nad call me back nope never heard a word.
SO I had follow up visit to Doc and was called and told to go to the hospital to get the disc so he could look at it.
and I wrote on the back to ask about the ultra sound.
then I still had to ask the Doc about it and then the nurse told him it was in the files hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm he still hadnt looked at it til then.
then he came back in say the ultra sound looked like I have 90% blockage in my throat asked question which I said no to as I hadnt had them.
So today I go for a CTA .
DOnt you go into a doctor and they ask you what is wrong with you wwht youcame in for right there we are diagnosing ourselfs! I got to a Doc for him to tell me what is wrong but they ask what is wrong hummmmmmm

So right they don't give the results to the patient the doctor has to read the results because that is what he is trained to do. Patients are not doctors and don't know what we are looking at, (sometimes because it is our bodies, I suspect we have more invested in those results. We learn real quick.)
Absolutely all those test results should be a priority for your doctor to reveal to you the patient.
What lessons we are given in life...

Yep, I keep popping in and out, I am getting around a little more often...
Winter is slow for work so I have more time on my hands, that and some loose ends or details I'm working on.

That's crazy! I can't believe he didn't let you know the moment he found out. 90% blockage is a big deal. I would be mad as a hornet. And the nurse had to remind him???? Oh my goodness...yes...you need someone that is going to let you know when they find something like that out!!!!

Hello my friend Lakota12 Ji,
I think till a person is so sick tyhat person ios taken aeway by others in an Ambulance, one shouldnever visit a Doctor. I think we can replace Doctors with Buthers. I am still waiting for my Urine/Blood investigation reports since Nov-2003, while in FT.LDR area in US, where a Doctor advised my hiubby and Son that a CT SCAN woould be better as I had gfever/cold/coughing. MY hubby shot back that first he wanted that Urine/Blood report and before CTY SCAN Xeray is a;lways advisable.I am hale and hearty. I siuggest that yopu change ypoiur Doctor/.Biut in US it is not that easy. Thanks.
May God bless You and have a great time.

No not easy here to change DOctors as I have to go to reg to get another recommanddation to ogto another one.
DIdnt use to be that way ya used to be able to chose Doctor ya wanted but where I live here are so many I just wouldnt know which one is best! Not like the old family Doctor that came to yur house and treated you.
and he knew every thing and did most of it too even the operations.
Sorry you havent got that test results thats a heck of a long time! to wait.

Hello my friend Lakota12 Ji,
So nice of your supporting comments. First let's not get sick by keeping ourselves healthy and fit at this age. If we get sick try and resolve the sickness with help of of some homely available medicines as kept coming from Great grand mother's onward. Only when one is compleled , one should knock the door. In our country, we can change any Dr. at any time. Thanks.
May God bless You and have a great time.

Sounds to me like your dr. might be getting alzheimers.
Since we both have bout the same problem, maybe you need a second opinion?
Just take care and do not let them get down.
hugsssssssssssss

yup am thinking about that.
I hate DOctors. specially ones that dont keep you informed or tell ya stuff and have ya go for more tests if he was that worried in the first pale why just not a cat scan in the first place! WHen he says that ultrasound not that good!???????????????

Yes I certainly do!!! I hate having to call and chase down the results of any medical tests. Being told that if the results were serious I would have been notified is NOT good enough. I imagine the worst when I don't get the results. I have been very vocal about this so now my Primary Care Physician always lets me know what the results are and EXACTLY what they mean!

It could be his age. That is why the nurse had to remind him. The doctors are supposed to get the results and they usually have them with them, but usually if it is like our medical center, the receptionist has it filed in a cabinet and she gives it to the patient as she goes in. But since you have a family doctor, the nurse will have to hand him the files, but then he has to ask her.
So it is up to the doctor. Have you considered changing your doctor?

If the results are worrisome, you better believe he ought to get the results to you right away. That's just not right.

It seems like they should get the results to you, no matter what they were, especially if there was something wrong, then I would expect my doctor or his nurse to call and tell me. I get tired of that, I've been thru that too a few times, get a test done then I don't hear anything about it, so when I ask, usually the doctor hasn't even seen it yet, it gets frustrating. I hope everything works out for you tho..

Sounds to me like u need to get a new doctor. What a slacker he sounds like. I have had carotid surgery & it isn't something u mess around w/when u have that much blockage. It is very dangerous. I think i would be getting a 2nd opinion. U sure don't need to put that off any longer if u have that kind of blockage. Take care.

It is actually unethical of a doctor not to reveal full results during a visit. Imagine having a serious condition and not being told until it is too late. Next time you see the doctor I would question this.
He will not get offended as it is his duty and responsibility to make sure he has all bases covered.
I do hope all is well Lakota and that this is simply an oversight. On another note is, heaven forbid, something is wrong, it is time to find a new doctor because there is no telling how further treatment is handled.
I wish you well.

I don't understand why some doctors take their leisure time revealing the result of any ultrasound or any scanning done to their patients. I hope you'll get good result and not something that is life threatening.
