Every day we come across some natural calamities occurring some where in the world; it may be either heavy rain or storm or earth quake or severe draught. Do you think natural calamities are increasing day by day? Do you think it as a revenge of nature against mankind?

I find it hard to know what it true in relationship to the natrual calamities that are happeing around the world these days. There is a huge drive for many media companies, even the biggest in the world, to promote man-made climate change as a fact, when the scientists themselves are in disagreement and there is no absolute cast iron evidence because it has happened before many times in the natural cycles of our planet. For instance they say that cows are releases harmful gases, well naturally, a few centuries ago there were huge herds of buffalo wondering the North Amercan planes, often as far as the eye could see. The released gas too, and they weren't made made. The world can cleanse itself with natural castrophes without our interference and I believe it will do so again, no matter how "clean" we become. But I am still in two minds, especially in sight of the fact that there are fortunes being made from Green issues. _Derek

Thanks for responding to my response
From what I've heard about the OZONE layer is that this has expanded and contracted several times during the course of history too. Whenever one scientist says something, somebody else will discount it. So unless there is unanimous agreement, how are we supposed to know anything for certain. _Derek

DEREK: Just so you know, the ozone hole is a natural thing. It was discovered by the U.S. government about 1945--long before we had most of the technology which some blame for "global warming" (GW) & the ozone hole.
Perhaps you're already aware that the warming has been over for several years (since the mid-90s, in fact), or that at the same time, the source of GW--the SUN--also heated up the rest of our planets?
I wanna meet them there Martians & Plutonians & tell them to knock off driving their SUVs & using freon in their refrigerators!
This post can't be comprehensive, due to the wealth of information available, but it has been established that certain proponents of the "man-made" GW theory deliberately falsified & censored their hoax, until all those emails surfaced & revealed their deeds last year.
I'm just sayin'...

You have some good points "Derek". Granted there is disagreement among members of the scientific community as it refers to "global warming" but from what I gather the really important issue is the "OZONE" layer of our planet.
As I understand it, it is the basis of alot of the global warming since it protects our atmosphere. With it being damaged alot of weather problems can occur like the melting of the polar ice caps. With the destructuon of the ozone layer the icecaps melt, sea levels rise, weather patterns change and a host of other unpleasant climatic changes occur.

Hi "savypat",
Sorry, but I don't completely agree with your premise. Granted nature is in constant flux and that's ok. However science has shown and to my satisfaction mankind IS creating some serious problems with the enviornment. Science has nothing to gain by deceiving the public and not just in the U.S. but world wide. Yes, I do believe mankind needs to clean up its act when it comes to our enviornment. After all you can't eat money and stocks when the resources are gone can you?

No. Nature does not have a mind and thus cannot take revenge. I think part of it is that our media can be nearly everywhere now and has very few limitations--so disasters are broadcast all over the world. Solar flares usually accompany strange weather and sure enough, we have had some bad ones and thus can possibly account for the strange weather we've been having the past couple of years. The weather goes in cycles and the earth warms and cools on a regular basis and influences it.
I don't think nature is taking revenge but I'm glad some people think so because it may make them more careful with their garbage and energy use. The problem is that manufacturers don't believe it so they have no incentive to reduce their pollution and use of resources.

I certainly agree with you. The weather patterns and global disasters are a part of the composite sign that Jesus gave to his disciples.

I don't know. We must read reports of scientist to know that. But I think that natural calamities have had from upon, so they occur nowadays is not strange.
We should be optimistic about future in order that we could do the best things for future.

I think so because we treat the nature like it's nothing. We dump our wastes on the seas and benefit from it's resources. In order for us to prolong its life, we need to take care of the environment. It's like these calamities are the means for nature to fight back.

I also agree with you that destruction of nature is the main key factor behind all these.

Hi guys,
I agree with you both to a point. If you look back in time you find there have always been some kind of natural disaster throughout history. The enviornment is always changing naturally however mankind with all of its pollutions and poor management of the enviornment has in my opinion added its two cents worth which has only speeded up the process. don't you think so?

Yeah I do think you have something there bigal3.
I agree that there have always been shifts in nature and natural disasters, but I can't believe that the pollutants we are creating aren't making these disasters occur more frequently. We are seeing disasters occur in areas where there has been no history of them for many years and that has to be a bit scary.
I believe in the theory that the world changes in cycles as well and that is why the Mayan calendar stops next year, not that the world will end, I don't believe that but just that there will be a big shift in nature, maybe the poles and magnetic fields that will change the way the word works at the moment..

it's mother nature's wrath i think. just like any mom who disciplines her children, i think it's her way of telling us it's too much. ever watched 2012? i'm now considering that. :(

doctordidi no nature is not a person or a G od its just nature so how can it think and reason and take revenge.I think naural disasters are about the same as always its just that in the electronic age we hear about all of them all of the times everywhere whereas befire we had less news and did not hear 34/7 about natural calamities.I sure would not worry about it at all.lifes too short to fret everything.

But there has been nothing for so many years and then just the last ten or so there has begun quite afew of them. Things go in cycles and others it takes time. No, I don't think it is revenge of nature against mankind. I think it is nature at its best and this will continue. And it will get worse before it gets better.

I agree with some of what you say but mankind "HAS" contributed to the degradation of the "OZONE" layer and the pollution of our oceans, lake, and rivers. According to leading Earth scientists that do the research and air it on "NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC" we humans actually are contributing to the early demise of our planet. We as humans need to preserve our planet not destroy it as we are currently doing.

Exactly. And there is even propaganda that none of that is true making it that much harder for anything to be done.

i was watching nat geo earlier and it seems global warming is taking its place..there are lot of calamities will soon happen, that's why there are people convincing its the end of the world. i would like to think that people are smart enough to deal with this kind of phenomena..

" For every action, there is a corresponding reaction" We are experiencing all this because of the way we used and abused our planet, hope it's not yet too late, let's do the best we all can before the situation becomes irreversible.

Normally I would agree with you about we as individuals can make a positive change for the betterment of our enviornment however, "BIG BUSINESS and SUPER NATIONAL CORPORATIONS" seem not to really care about nature and it seems they only care about the financial bottom line of their annual report to their stockholders and excutives. That's my humble opinion, what do you think?

It's not actually revenge it's just the consequences of what humans are doing to the planet. Global warning could be the main cause and it's caused by humans. As earth's temperature continues to rise, calamities are occurring on a large scale also.

Hi "kameleon...",
To me that IS the Earth's way of getting revenge for the mistreatment we humans have heaped on the planet. The temperture is rising because we humans are destroying the "OZONE" layer that protects our atmosphere from cosmic rays and holds our weather in. With the use hydrocarbons and other toxic chemicals released into the atomosphere we humans are at least damageing our enviornment and thus our planet in my opinion.

I think there are much more disasters these years than before. Some places got flood, some places got earthquake, and just few days ago, NY and NJ had experienced a wild snow. Some scientists says that the ice in the Pole zones melt faster and faster and may lead the doom to our world. The nature is returning back, and human race is so weak face to the nature.

Hi "Marmot",
NEWS FLASH! We humans have caused most of the natural disasters in the last 10 to 20 years by destroying natural habitats for plants and animals for just one example. Then there is the use of toxic fossil fuels and such. Get real, mankind is slowly and systematically destroying our enviornment. Science and we humans had better figure out quickly how to fix the problem or our children will have no inhabitible planet on which to live.

Well for anyone believing in the Bible, personally these are things that are predicted to get worse the closer we get to the last days. Yes, sometimes it might make it think and look like more things are happening around the world each day, but a lot of it could be the News media making us more aware of our surroundings as well. I think a lot of it could be leading up to the Financial situation in your state, country and life as a whole.

Yes, calamities are on the increase for sure. Nature is not taking revenge on humans, however.
It is prophesied in the Bible that these things will occur in 'the last days'.
We see very much greed, hate, violence and so forth.
Part of Jesus' composite sign of the final days of this system was that there will be earthquakes in one place after another. We can add to that all the other crazy weather patters as well.

No, it's really only that we now have instant communication world-wide (plus in space), so we have simply become more aware of it, that's all. If you study history, you'll find that overall, it evens out, & in fact, most of the major upheavals happened before we ever existed, when the earth was millions of eons younger. So don't fret, just relax & say a prayer for anyone in the path of a storm.
Also "Nature" is not self aware, being merely a term for all that either lives on the planet, or the actions of inanimate parts of the earth (such as tectonic shifts...we call these "earthquakes", or the movements of water or air as the sun warms or allows them to cool--"hurricanes" & "tornadoes,"--& sea currents & "tsunamis"). And then there are also the effects of gravitation from the Moon (tides, among other effects), & on & on. None of these things have consciousness.
Just my tuppence...

Well you can say it as revenge. The mankind is abusive to the mother earth so we all suffer for all the consequences of it. I hope all of us will be informed about global warming and protection of mother earth. We must all take the responsibility of educating our self on how to protect the mother earth. In my place there are occurrences of two week long of raining that causes, heavy floods. It is so disherarteni8ng to see those people in a far flung boondocks suffer because of this calamities.

"You reap, what you sow". If man is good with nature, nature would be good to man. Since man is not taking care of nature, then nature is getting back to man through climate changes or global warming. We only have one planet to live, so it is each one's responsibility to preserve it not only for us but also for the future generations as well.

just like we knock the sandbag,we hit it hardly and we would also feel hurt.
it is not the revenge of nature that the calamities are happening all around, but we human have created it.
I feel all these disasters both to individuals and groups are simply the natural disciplines. It cycles as it has always been.
we don't want bad things happen, try to care the nature and other livings.
