There have been 6 years since I started the procedures to buy the land for my dream house. Yeah, 6 years! There was something wrong with the papers and the owner had to put everything in order before signing the act of sale. I paid for the land 4 years ago but only yesterday we signed the papers.
So, starting from yesterday, I'm officially the owner of the land.
I can't find the words to let you know how happy I am.
Now I can start building my dream house. Here's the view I will see from the window of my bedroom: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmwG8IRo1jM
I know I have a lot of work to do but I feel like I made the first step.
What would be the next step I should make?

What a fantastic view!
Lots of places for Binnie to run around in too!
After such a long wait I can imagine how you must be feeling and wondering too how long it is going to take you to complete it. Have yuo already drawn up the plans for your new home and got all the permits seen to? When will it be ready?

So have you any idea how many more years before your home is built and completed and you can at last move in? I have no idea at all. Is it going to be a huge place or small.
I am curious, so many things I would love to know and I hope you will share all of the progress with us too

I have no idea of how much time it will take to build and finish my dream house.
It depends on how fast I will move with the papers. This is a phase I would gladly skip, as working with the authorities is always irritating. Bureaucracy is like a plague in my country.
It will be a small, cozy place. No more than two or three bedrooms.
I'll keep you up do date with the new steps I make.

Isn't it wonderful? This is why I fell in love with that piece of land from the first day I saw it. This is why I waited for so long to have it. If it had been an ordinary piece of land I would have given up because it took the owner so much time to put the papers in order.
I don't have the official plans for the new home. I must have drawn dozens of plans for the dream home but now I'm not sure I know which is the best. I should contact an architect to have an opinion from a professional.
I don't hurry as we have a place to live. But now, that I don't depend on others to step forward, I must not delay things.

MD is right, lots of room for Binne to run around, and the view is awesome; Congrats...
So, this land is bought and paid for? Then the next step I'd take is to check the interest rate on a loan to start building. If the rate is high, (This is where a banker friend comes in handy) then I'd just start saving some money for when the rate goes down. Then I'd take out a loan and with the money you saved, it can be what I'd call "back up money" in case you need extra for any problems that might arise.

Thank you, Carmelanirel
Actually I saved some money for my dream house. Considering the prices on the market for the square meter of construction, the money I have should be enough for building the house but nobody can tell which are the costs associated with building a house.
This means I have to wait a little until I save a few more money, or to go for a loan. But a loan is one thing I wouldn't take for now.

I know almost every person has a loan for buying a car or building a house, I may make this step too, but now, with the crisis, I am a little afraid to make this move.
I had a loan for buying the apartment we live in, and I know how you must feel. Fortunately, I paid for it a few years ago and now I'm without loans.
Nothing hurries us to build the house (well, except my wish to have the dream house and garden) so we will wait until the crisis ends.

Wow that certainly is a lovely View
I am glad that it is all sorted out now but that is a long time you had to wait
Specially as you already paid for it
I hope that you will love living there and get your Dream House

Hello Gabs,
I am still in the phase of dreaming to see that lovely view each morning when getting off my bed. For now there is nothing there but the land and the fence (I built the fence to let Binne run free inside when we go there ). Oh, there are also some trees I planted last year - two apple trees, two cherry trees, a sour cherry tree and a quince tree.
When I first find that piece of land I thought it must be the place where Nera was going to spend her last days. Unfortunately the paper work lasted longer than she lived. Now I hope Binne will spend her old days in that piece of Heaven.

Thank you, yogeshdhusa,
Well, it's only a step in the long way I have to follow to fulfilling my dream.
I'm sure you'll have the car you dream of. I remember when I decided I need a car. I hadn't dream of it but I needed it. And now I can't imagine life without it.
I wish you to have the car from your dreams soon! Good luck!
