While surfing the internet I have come across with the term ‘thread’ on several occasions. In mylot too, I always find the terms ‘tags’ and ‘key words’ or ‘key phrases’. What do these terms signify? What are their utilities?

I'm sure all these terms are designed usefully. Probably for well-categorizing,or glindline for other members.
But sometimes i'm also curious about all these terms. we can skip if we don't care,or write it well. maybe we will see its use after time.

Hi xinshunhe,
I posted a comment below yours and I have explained why it is of importance to tag and not skip the tags. Thought I let you know so that you too were aware.
Welcome to myLot.

Threads are the same as discussions here on myLot.
Tags are the keywords that best describes the discussion. They are mostly composed of a word or a group of words and are separated by comas. These words act as key words so if a corresponding word is searched, the discussion will be tagged and in turn will appear on the search results.

That means thread is the whole discussion I have started and tags are those important words from the discussion which I have isolated and which if some one searches will lead to my discussion.

hidoctordidi threads are a high faluting term for a discussionl. tags are key words or phrases that signify a particular discussion so you'
can find it if you want to check for ones that may duplicate your idea for a new discussion. key words are words that directly point to one particular discussion l ike a discussion on types of books might hbave tags like I like mystery novels or love history stories, etc.
a key phrase is like Agatha Christie is tops in mysteries. they are used to identify types of discussions so you can see if your idea has alreeady been used. for example you want to write a discussion on the types of books you love to read so you check to see if anyone else has used that same terms and asked your same question.if not then you can go ahead anmd make your discussion about that topic.

A thread is a response to a discussion. Tags are words you can find old discussions, sort a new age way of filing. Key phrases are great for searching and googling for things. Now days you have to know what these new fangled phrases and words mean or you are pretty much lost online. So they signify alot.
