I interviewed with one of the owners of the company. We talked for 10 minutes, and then she told me she was definitely going to recommend me for hiring. First she needs to talk it over with her son (another owner) and the store manager. So it's looking really good. She said I had a great interview, and I have a lot going for me based on experience and maturity. Now I'm getting a little worried. I have another interview on Wednesday for a part time day job, working 2 days a week. This job will be more of a clerical type job, so it will give me the experience I am looking for towards my future career. The only problem I'll have with getting this job is finding an affordable babysitter. There's also the chance that the beverage store may call.. and I know I'll have to say no to that job, which makes me feel bad. This is the downside of putting in multiple applications and resumes, you have the possiblity of having to turn down job offers or figuring out how to fit in 2 jobs at once. I am thinking of taking the part time day job if it's offered.. though chances of that are slim since I do not have experience in that field.. I'll still go for the interview though to at least get experience interviewing for that type of job! Have you ever had multiple job offers at once? Have you ever had to turn down a job offer?

No, I've never had multiple job offers at once. However, with all the applications I've been putting in lately it's certainly a possibility! LOL And yes, I've had to turn down a job offer before. But as you already know all about it I won't bother you with the details. Happy mylotting!

Good luck with your applications. I see you're slightly behind on my discussions.. I got the job at Subway, not sure if you've seen that yet. Took me about a month to get that job, minimum wage, and so far I'm getting 10 hours a week. Oh well.. it's money, right? So, as you may also know, I'm still looking for a part time day job for clerical experience. Hopefully I will find a decent one soon. Hopefully you will find something soon as well. Have you been looking on Craigslist? Two of my interviews came from there.

Thanks! Yeah, I'd say I am. And not only yours, but everyone else's. I've been so busy applying for jobs that I haven't had time to mylot. But I did happen to see that you got the job. Congratulations! Yes, I've been looking on Craigslist. That's how I was able to find that job that's 20 miles from me as well as a few others. I've also been looking for jobs through snagajob and simplyhired as well. If you haven't tried those you might want to give them a shot. Good luck in your (clerical job) search!

I've been applying just like you recently, and I got a few interviews. However the first place I interviewed at took me on and I had to reject some really good places because I'd already accepted the job. But loe, after finishing my first day the other boss (not the one who hired me) told me we'd have a meeting and discuss whether I'll be on probation and the exact pay rate I was after and he'd call me tomorrow when it'd calmed down enough to talk properly. His reasoning was that he didn't want to put me off working for him because I started on an insanely busy day and the next day would be worse. Turns out they were trying someone else out and she'd also been told she had the job. So instead of telling me this he just sent me home. And my call to discuss pay was him telling me they didn't want me. After being told I was the best person they'd seen and they'd see me on monday. It was a really good job and I've also missed out on other BETTER jobs because of it. I'm also not being paid for the 9 hours work I did either. I've started thinking the best idea is to take all the jobs offered to you and when a better place offers you a job leave the other. This way at least you are guaranteed a job. Not so great for the bosses but they screw us around far too much!

It's a real shame that happened to you, but accepting every job offer and quitting just because a better one comes along isn't always a good idea. It shows really bad work ethic and could cause you not to be hired again in the future.

I honestly do not remember. I have started a job before and quit after one day. They lied to me about the hours and the person training me said things like "I am trying to lose weight so I am not eating. If you have to pick me up from the aisle that is okay." I just could not handle it. I am glad things are looking up for you.

I've had a lot of jobs I've quit after a very short period of time.. like one where my task was to watch a machine make springs for 8 hours a day.. and my only job was to replace the box when it got full. Like seriously? A monkey could do that job! I actually left that shift after like 6 hours and never went back.

Good for you!!!! at least you are getting a choice! I did turn one down a couple of years ago..it was where my kids work...and it would have been a great job but the pay was half of what I was making right now..and I couldn't afford to quit my job I have now to go work there...the benefits there would have been better..oh well!

I can't blame you for turning it down. In this economy, you'd have to be crazy to take a job making less money than you currently do!

I am not taking any full time jobs. The one I just interviewed for is 20 hours a week, the one I'm interviewing for on Wednesday is 10 hours a week. The other job that I have not interviewed for yet, but feel confident that they will call is also only 10 hours a week, but I will still have to turn it down if they call.

I don't think I would turn down the first one since it sounds like you have it. Not until after the other interview. Then I'd play the cards all the way through and see which one actually gets me in a slot. Last year I had a job and the day I was going in to start they called me and told me they had a "hire freeze" all of a sudden.. don't let go of a sure one based on one that "might" happen!

I have not been offered any job yet. I interviewed for one today, which is most likely going to hire me. I have another interview on Wednesday for a job I can take if I'm offered both. The job I will turn down hasn't even called for an interview yet, but I have a feeling they will. It was all explained in a post yesterday.

It is hard to decide when given multiple offers. You have to weigh all the options. Look at the pay, hours, benefits - all of it. What makes the most sense for you? I am sure you will make the right decision. Good luck!
