Do long term pain killers stop working?

Hi mylotters I have been on painkillers over a year for a servere bad back and i have found they are just not working anymore and the doctor says iv tried all i can for it,the next step is having fusion on my spine any tips would be helpful or alternative remedies

I think you can become a bit immune or too used to them and this is why they don't have an effect on you anymore. I think you should try to look for a similar product, but maybe from another company or something, that could work I guess.
