I am curious about the amazon kindle. It looks like it might be interesting for readers. Does anyone here have an amazon kindle? What do you think about it? Is it worth the money?

I do have a kindle. It was a gift. I'm notoriously cheap, so I wouldn't have bought one myself. So, I can't say if it was worth the money, since I didn't spend any. But, I can say I enjoy it. It's just like reading a book and nice and lightweight. You can adjust the size of the type, which is good for me, because I'm getting to where it's easier to see larger print. I also like that you search in the books by typing in the words or phrases. Sometimes when I'm reading a print book, I remember a line, but can't remember what section of the book it was in. With the kindle, you can find it fast. It can also read the books out loud. I haven't used that yet, but it can be good for when my eyes hurt. Plus, you can hold so many books and they don't take up any space. One disadvantages between a kindle and a regular book is that since the kindle is an electronic device, there are places I wouldn't take it because it might get damaged. Like the bathroom. I'm a bathroom reader. I'm also the type of person who reads on buses and things, and I'm absentminded too. But, I'd be scared to use a kindle there, because I'm likely to forget it. I'd hate to lose a paper book that way, but I wouldn't feel as bad about needing to replace that. Some of the books I've gotten on the kindle have had errors. But, that might be because so far, I've only gotten free books or ones that are, at most, $.99

Hah, another bathroom reader! I must confess, I'm always taking long hot baths and reading while I soak. I'd also be afraid to take a kindle in for that, though, so I'll stick with paperbacks for bathroom reading. As far as the Kindle itself goes, I've wanted one since I first heard about them, but don't intend to buy one anytime soon (financial issues, money is too tight right now for frills). I know several people who have them and love them, though, and those who bought them (as opposed to receiving them as gifts like you did, Angelwriter) think they're well worth the price. I bet that font-size flexibility is one of the most popular features, too. I'd love to be able to adjust fonts when I read.

Hi kevin: I feel curious too. It seems that Amazon kindle is an amazing way to read your books. However I won't buy it because it feels nice to have a paperbook in your hands. I don't know how to explain it but it feels different when you have a device. I love the smell of the book leaves, I enjoy touching a physical sensation and I'm sure it would be different with a kindle. And they are expensive too. I think that I'd buy a kindle for me at some point when they'll be cheaper and I really need one. ALVARO

Yes I think the best part about a kindle is that is can store books. But I also enjoy the physical aspect of a book. I also love the way a shelf full of books looks.

Hi kevin90az, I borrowed one from a friend for a week to try it out, to see if it's worth the money. My friend didn't like it anyway, she said I could keep it if I wanted, but I didn't get along with it very well either. It's not the same like reading a nice paper book for me; I often fall asleep with a book in my hand, and with the Kindle, I was worried I'd damage it. It was great for reading study material - if you can get it on Kindle - but I didn't like it for literature. I'll probably buy one anyway when the prices go down, but not now, it's still too expensive for what it can do.
