Buying VS Renting Referrals, Which do you prefer?

Before, with the old PTC sites, they either allow you to buy or rent referrals. The new PTC sites, nowadays, give you option for both. Buying referrals is usually 4 times as expensive than renting referrals. The good thing about buying referrals is that the referrals are yours forever. This is good especially if you have found a very active clicker. The possible drawback of course is the possible inactivity of a referral and in which you can't replace them with new ones. Renting referrals, on the other hand, is much cheaper and you'll have the option to replace inactive ones. Unfortunately, even if you found a good clicker you don't have the option to buy that referral. You can only extend the rent. So, which one would you choose?
