Hi to all mothers out there. I have an almost 14 months old baby and up until now he's under pure b.reast feeding. I know its a good thing that he's still under that. His pedia said that he can be under that till he's 2. Its just that when we go out, for example to the mall, there's a breas.tfeeding station there but I think he is too entertained to nurse. He eats solid food 3 to 4x a day now. Im just worried that he's not getting enough milk specially when we go out.. I still have milk, I drink lots of water so there's no problem for the milk in me..

hi chiedenn,
There is no such thing as child has to be weaned at 2 or so. In countries like India and some African countries children in remote villages are fed on mothers milk till 4 or till younger sibling comes . And about bottle feeding i am surprised ur pediatrician didnt say no to it. Out here in India govt and doctors are going out of their way to teach every mother ills of bottle feeding and why is should be discouraged.

Hello agrim94.. thanks for your input.. I haven't asked my pedia about it.. I'm still planning on asking my pedia about the bottle feeding.. :) Thanks for sharing. That's a good thing you know, breas.tmilk is really best for babies so I think as long as the baby wants to nurse, a mother can go on nursing even till 4

Hi, I think you need to continue with it for at least upto 2yrs. Later on, as the child grows up, obviously the kid will eat out and will not be taken enough of the healthy food, that too when its all junk outside. So, may be , you need to protect him and make him immune by continuing it at least till he turns 2 yrs of age. Mother's milk is the best tonic in the world. It protects the child from the birth and it strengthens the immune system of the child. I think you should not stop.
just another 9-10 months and you can expect your child to be healthy for his lifetime, as in he will not be too sensitive to the problems he might have to face when it comes to health!
Good luck! God bless your kid with all his wisdom!

I have a 14 month old too - and he's been purely b fed too (still). We decided since I've gone on this long with no bottles, he would not introduce bottles to him at all. We let him use a cup since he was 4 months - so by now he's used to drinking liquids from a cup. I know what you mean by the distractions there are while he is nursing - it's the "exploring" and "curious" stage so they don't want to sit in a strange place to nurse. But I think he's getting enough nutrition throughout the day . . . waiting a bit later at this point is ok. We just wait til we get home . . . unless I can somehow find a "quiet" place to nurse (even if it's in the car!!).
With my daughter, she used bottles since I pumped my milk full time - and on occasion she would have formula . . . she ultimately stopped using the bottle at 16 months.
