Would you be offended if a videogame character based on Jesus is created.

The wolf in the picture Below is Amaterasu, she is a Goddess in the Shinto religion and Shintoist people in Japan worships her until now. Basically few years ago an ward winning game is created, Its titled Okami. That game is basically an adaptation of her adventure. So yes a video game where the Goddess of the Shinto religion is turned into a videogame character, The Shintos are not offended though.
Basically she is the Goddess of the sun, yeah she is in wolf form because she is a shape shifter and only Gods can see her human form. (which is said she is a very beautiful woman)
The Shinto people are very sport about her being a videogame character, they loved her adventures battling demons.
For sure if this is done to Muslims they will be so offended they might attack the creator of the game....

Since most people here are christian, I will ask the question again.
Would you mind a videogame about Jesus? or will you be offended?

I, personally, am athiest, but I wouldn't be offended if people wanted to make a video game about Jesus or any other religious figure. People make games about demons and the devil and whatnot, so it would be hypocritical to be offended by a game about Jesus. If someone's offended by it, they just shouldn't play it.

I just hope that some Christians will answer since I know Atheist people wont really give a damn that much. But you may care though if its a good game that will be fun to play. I mean most people who played this game Okami, are not Shintos. They dont worship Amaterasu, they just enjoyed the game because its good.

It is very difficult to use religion inside a videogame, except if the religion has disappeared : Greek and Roman gods can be good characters in a videogame.
For Jesus, it would depend of the game. Jesus was not a violent man, and you can't use it in any videogame. If a time traveler was going to see him in a video game, I would not be shocked by the idea. If a team of bad guys was trying to kill Jesus in an action game, I would find the game unacceptable.

Shinto's were not so sensitive since they Goddess has been portrayed in videogames and anime in many ways. Anyway there is a game where the protagonist is a witch who sold her soul to Satan to fight angels and Its kinda famous now, it sold millions of copies but fro some unknown reason its not controversial. A game were you are killing angels

I think roman and greek Mythology were very used in videogames and comic books. For sure it maybe controversial but Christians seemed to be less sensitive than Muslims though. I think a cameo wont be that much controversial. I wonder what will be people's reaction for a game were Jesus is kicking some demon butt.

Characters in media are supposed to reflect the culture and ideas of society. I don't think there is anything wrong with Jesus as a character. In fact as a widely known figure it is only fitting that he be included as a character that constantly remind us of what we believe and more importantly what people value.

he had been in comicbooks, cartoons, anime and movies and people dont really seemed to mind. Its different with Muslims though. They created a movie about Mohammed's life and he is not in the movie because its in first person perspective of him.

Making Jesus Christ as a video game character is a disgrace. They tend to mess their savior. Probably, if Jesus is to be in a video game, it should be a somewhat action-adventure game where Jesus is fighting Jews, Pontius Pilate, Judas Escariot, etc. That will be a great disgrace making Jesus a violent character.
There were now games created where mythological gods were the characters. Like the God of War. In that game, Zeus, Apollo, etc. are included. Including the place of Sparta and the spirits. But I think there is nothing wrong with that because I think there are no people who are believing in the Greek Mythology nowadays.

Amen, I guess videogame companies will not take a risk because of the reactions I get. I guess the Shintoist are less sensitive than other religions.

im a Christian and i will be offended.
why? i think religion should'nt be play with even just the character.
and it is not using religion for publicity.
Jesus is our God , Savior , Holy , Divine.
and why use Him as a character in a merely game?
and in video game , it means we play that we are Jesus , we use God as a charcter .
it an offense i think . since God is God , and he is holy.
you cant play God.

speaking of Christianity, there are some Christian sects that actually doesnt see Jesus as God, since its his father who was the god. It seemed like the Shinto people are very good sports since they didnt get offended and overreacted about it.

i am christian, but in a contemporary way.. and i would'nt be offended if a video gamed based on jesus would be created. iF the video game, is created to show the life of jesus, i will not be offended, the video game could teach the people, to know him, and to be in his shoes, maybe they will understand more his life, when they get to play the game.. the game could be for educational purposes.

Hello Captain Albert,
There's already a video game that has a correlation with the christians in terms of teaching stuff from the bible, it's not as good but it sure is educational. unfortunately, with regards to that i don't entirely agree with it. such use our lord Jesus Christ as a character may lead into abuse and we don't like it. same goes for the muslims, i find it very offense, since god is not to be ridiculed at.
