I'm using video LAN (VLC) it is playing almost all media files.
One good thing about it is its for free.
What is the extension file of that movie?

I've been using VLC few years back and it hasn't failed me.
They always provide updates and have more functionality.
It is user friendly, you'll never get hard time using it.
It even fixes videos that are damaged so you can still watch it. :)

I am using VLC player because I think only this player that can handle many movies with various extensions. Windows media player can only play wmv and avi format. It cannot even playing avi format in the past, but I guess they added the codec in the last version of wmp.

Some people might agree with Quick time and Windows Media Player, but I as pointed out by many a users, use VideoLAN Client. The best part about this player is that it is very light. Meaning it wont occupy a lot of space on your hard drive. And it also has the ability to play the most popular types of video formats and audio formats. Suffice to say, just get that player for free download from their site and experience and hassle free video playback.

Usually, Windows Media Player is okay with me even though they say there are others that can perform better than it. I particularly like Windows Media Player because it's easy to access and it's user-friendly not like others. They may be free but most are still on their beta state or have glitches and crashes often. I'm sticking with Media Player because it had stuck with me through thick and thin.

yes you can always use windows media player but the codec of windows media player is limited so i suggest just download "K lite codec pack" and install it to your computer and voilla your windows media player can now play any format out there. cheers...

I've heard of that. Well, what I usually play in my laptop are DVD formats so I don't need k-lite that much. Besides, I'm trying to save up space on my laptop. I've been storing up a lot of files lately because of this CG project I've joined online. I'm afraid I'm gonna need a new external memory.

Probably the KMPlayer can handle the job. It comes with a full package of video codecs and can play 99% of videos distributed over the internet, and if you get 1%, it download the needed codec from internet.
And also it comes with cool interface, subtitles support (including subtitle resynchronization, if it's needed)

The best player to watch downloaded movies is, in my opinion, the SPlayer. However most of those movies are in .avi format. So if you have the decoder installed in your system you can play them with any player, including Windows Media Player. Here is the link for Xvid Codec http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/ and here is the link for SPlayer http://splayer.en.softonic.com/download I hope that resolves the issue. With Splayer you can watch movies in any format.
