Some movies are just moving pictures in a screen, they cannot capture other people minds & heart. I experienced watching movie that has been advertised in the media, that it's best movie ever produced by a giant director. Why is that so? And, why this famous movie director got a recognition for that movie? Can you tell me why folks?

I like a movie when it can make me sit still for the whole thing. Most movies bore me because the acting is static and the plot is one dimensional. But if the movie is original and i cant determine what is going to happen next i love that movie. Examples of these movies are Inception, Superbad and The Hangover. The last two are funny throughout and i love them.

There's two aspect where a movie excel. One is it's aesthetic value. This means all the arts in it, the story, the acting, and how it is treated by the director, how it transmit it's message to the viewers. If the movies passed all of this with flying colors, then it is good. The other aspect is the technical. How is the sound, the editing, the cinematography and the effects. If all of this aspect is met with high scores, then the movie is worth watching.

For me, a good movie is one that I can have an emotional connection to. If it makes me laugh or cry in the right places, that can be a good movie. Or, if I wish that the lives of the characters could continue, because I liked watching them so much I want to spend more time with them. If it makes me want to see it again, that's a good movie.

Dear FX I didn't get about which movie you are talking about! For me a good movie is one which makes me to get involved in the movie and which makes me to think about the movie after I have completed the watching the movie.
For me every thing should be perfect for a movie to be a best one. Like it should have actors with good acting talents, it should have been directed effectively, it should have good back ground music, the photography should be pleasant and effective, if there are any special effects then they should be closed to reality and not like a puppet plays. The emotions, feelings and the story line becomes prime thing if the movie is revolving around a social theme.
So for me I think it would be difficult to pass any judgment about the movie about which you are talking as you have not mentioned any thing about the movie! Thanks!
