When people are mean to mean, screw me over and just plain treat me badly, I shut down and become incapable of loving that person anymore. I have had people tell me that I should give in to these people and continue to do everything for them and love and care about them even though they show none of that towards me....I say that is a pile if BS!! WHy should I waste my previous time catering to people who do not do any catering to me or are incapable of treating me good?? I refuse to be nice to anyone who is not nice to me! WHat are your opinions??

I'd be the opposite in such situations as I like to think I'm a better person and can respond better than others around. I'd continue to be nice to anyone and everyone even my enemies. If they treat you badly there's no point in letting it get to your good natured self so that's just my view anyway.

Sure, if a person is mean and doesn't care by nature, then I'm with you, you shouldn't love them nor care about them them back. However, I do believe that when something just happens to go wrong and you know that the particular person is good in his heart, and didn't do this just to gurt you or anything, then it is best to forgive them. Maybe it would be good to quote a poem by a famous rapper here:
"I forgive you for doubting me.
I forgive you for wishing the worst upon me.
I forgive cause a man is not a man
until he begins to take on god like ways.
I forgive but I will not forget."

Well, I try to be nice to everyone anyway. But being nice does not mean being a doormat. You have the right to choose your friends and having a relationship with someone who uses you and is mean to you is downright sick and unhealthy. Why would anyone tell you to continue to be nice to such a person?!
It's your life and your choice. Don't waste your time on relationships that are one-sided. Life is too short!
