Italian has become my comfort food

Ever since I was a child I have loved a traditional plate of spaghetti..the old fashion big noodles with a classic tomato based meat sauce.
As a child ( and as a adult ) I was a picky eater. My parents would fuss over my eating habits constantly. All I wanted was spaghetti & mac n cheese, and being the "give me everything " mother, she would fuss with my dad when he TRIED to make me eat fruits and vegetables. I wouldn't eat them, I would sit at the table and pout. My mother worried that I wouldn't eat at all if I couldn't eat what I wanted and would become sick, and my dad THOUGHT he was set on me eating right.
Guess who won ? Yep, my mother ! My father gave up the fight and I got my spaghetti and I mean every time I wanted it. I am not even going into the fact that it was a bad thing !
However, the older I got and the more stress I was under I found myself turning to a plate of spaghetti for comfort. Pizza is next in line, so I have come to the conclusion that it is the tomato base that I want, not so much the noodles with the sauce.
I am curious if anyone else finds " Italian " being a comfort food ?

Yes, totally. Italian works great for these things. And I love it in general as well. Not just pasta, but also real, well made pizza (not the frozen kind or anything, yuck!) and risotto and stuff. Not to mention their desserts!

I am with you on the pizzas, most of the frozen ones are just awful. Honestly, I have never tried desserts. I will have to look into that, lord knows what I am missing, yummy !

oh..lasagna, I have not had that in a while. I know what will be going on my meal planner. Come to think about it, Lasagna would make a great meal for my family on Valentines day !

There is no doubt, I could eat it ALL the time. I have wore my family out on Italian so now I am only allow to cook it once every 2 weeks lol . They got to the point that would not eat it. I would cook spaghetti every week and hear nothing but complaining. My daughter will not even touch the sauce. She gets just the noodles and puts Italian dressing on it, which I guess is alright ( I learned to pick my battles lol )
However, I find it funny that my oldest step daughter now fixes spaghetti once a week for self now that she has moved out. Plus my other step daughter that has moved back in recently, and she always ask me when are we having it. Go figure !

I love Italian food but it ain't my comfort food. I love eating lasagna, spaghetti, pizza, ravioli, risotto and parmigiana. And guess what, all that is with tomato sauce. May be I do love tomato based dishes. Whichever way, I love them both...hehehe...

I am Italian, and therefore, I eat like one! On sad days, I would just walk out of my house, and order myself some chicken parmigiana, and everything would get so much better. Presto!
