Friend requests

I really wish there was a way to send a message with friend requests. I get requests from newbies and hate to say no, but without knowing why they ask, I will say no half of the time. All I need for a no is one PTC advert on their page. Not that I don't have friends who do PTC's, but it isn't why we are friends. We have some interest in common. Do I have anything in common with the newbies? Usually from looking at their profile it's no. If we could add a short message, then I would have something else to use to make the decision with. Do they like animals? Do they like my country? Do they like reading? Are they somewhere near my age? Or are they young and want to market their PTC programs. If it's for PTC I don't need it. If they are young, then they better have a common interest or I just don't have time for them. Well this is my rant for the day.

Oh WOW!!!!!Out of curiosity I went to your profile, because I was going to say, Yes, I love animals and then I went to your profile to check out your country to see if I like it...Guess what? I DO!!!! and you can ask anyone here, Israel is a place I REALLY want to visit; I have written a novel that is over 80,000, but have not published it due to needing an editor, so I am editing it myself which is taking a long time. But, I already have my second story in my head and I am placing it in Israel, even though some have tried to discourage me because I have never been there, so I can't describe it correctly..Even so, I do have some friends in Israel or who have been there, plus I love this country so much, I read about it and have the J-Post video of the day sent to me every day...:D Oh, and I love reading too, and I am close to your age So, can I be your friend???

It's really a normal country, more European than American. Day to day life is like anywhere else. Get the kids off to school, go to work, come home, eat and watch TV.

That's a good way to do it. There is no reason to be "friends" if you don't communicate once in a while.

Personally I can see where you would think this and be a little leary, as I am sure many of us are. From someone who has been here for a little over 4 yrs. now, I get Friend requests all of the time. If it is from someone who is New, I usually let it sit there for a little while and give them a chance to see if they are going to be active here, and what type of stuff they really like to talk about. If everyone that had been here a while never gave the New people a chance then they would get discouraged and leave, and would you have wanted that when you were new?

I agree with you as you have some "lachtzanim" that just never get around to approving friend requests and then there are others that just spam the heck out of you through PM or through starting 100 discussions a day on MyLot but G-d forbid should respond to anyone who took time to respond to their discussion.
