I think with technology growing so fast a day would come when we(humans) will be gadgets to the super technical machines we are creating rite now. i really like the concept of the movie "matrix" and i really like this would happen inn the future. what would that day be like. will we become slaves to the technology we are creating rite now?

I should hope that would not happen in our lifetime. I think that safegaurds should be put into the programs to prevent that sort of thing from happeing. but I dont think we are acutlual becomeing slaves to our tech. jsut becoming very depend on it.

I highly doubt humans would ever become subservient to mechanical beings, simply because we are too rebellious. What we have now we won't want later.
If we look at ourselves honestly, we'd see that we want what we don't have, it doesn't matter if it's leisure, we want work, if it's work we want play time, if we have play time we want to do something meaningful...
We are a tactile species, we want not just to think and feel emotionally and intellectually, we want the wind in our faces, the warmth of the sun, and our own imaginations to provide our entertainment.
We've segments of society that step back from civilization, attempting to live as we once did, secure in the knowledge that civilization will welcome us back with open arms and new technologies to astound us.
We like our creature comforts but we also like our adventure and want to tailor that adventure to our own particular tastes.
Artificial Intelligence is already here, it's been here for a while now. The Pandora bots are considered artificial intelligences, children can create them. They are 'learning computer programs' that learn what we teach them, innovation is not their 'strong suite'. Yet the ones I have seen and participated in communication with online have been interesting to watch develop, yet their lack of emotional response is telling.
For anything, human or otherwise to thirst for power, first it must conceive the notion that power is desirable, and desire is an emotion.
Although to consider the possibility of such an occurrence is an interesting exercise, and makes one wonder how one would fair in such a world.

Parish the thought, yeah technology is fast growing and sometimes I think we all get carried away with using it, but I'd like to believe that technology makers will not allow the human race to become slaves to it as in the film the matrix lets hope fiction remains fiction and that the human race doesn't let our interest in technology get to far out of control.

Hello ateevmehra,
It's alright to create technologies that would give human edge over every thing. but i there's one thing that I am not in favor of them making is the artificial intelligence.and for now, it is visible that japan is making them.. I think we should realize that with out an AI we have a chance to living a life. well, i had to admit i got addicted to internet but merely to be here online and participate.

I was watching MATRIX RELOADED (the sequel where they kinda get into the issues of being slaves to the machines that are slaves to us etc.) last night.
I think it's sort of our Godly nature to merge with the beings we created ("And God breathed his spirit into the ground, and the body became a living soul." Genesis)
I'm a cyborg, wearing light-focusing tools on my face, wearing junk-covering cloth on my body, etc.
