While I personally own a Fender American Strat and I love it, I also love the feel of my dad's Gibson Les Paul Classic. While they both have there own pros and cons, though few and far between. I want to know what you're favorite guitar is of the two. Fender or Gibson?

I don't play guitar so musically I don't know which sounds better but I've always preferred the style of the Gibson. It just suits my own style more, It looks like my personality if I could explain it in such a way. It looks chilled just like I like to be calm and relaxed. Do you understand were I'm coming from at all?

How can a guitar suit your style if you don't play?

Well I've always wanted to learn, in fact took lessons when I was younger but never stuck at it. So the Gibson was always a guitar I wanted it just suited my style of life and my ideals in music. So I've always envisioned me playing a Gibson but still I can't get a hang of learning to play any instrument.

I completely understand what you mean, it's just like buying a painting. Maybe you think there is a really nice painting that you would like to have but that doesn't mean you have to be a painter to own it. You would just be more of a connoisseur of guitars. But I totally encourage learning! I love it!

Gibson then fender then anything else. I also have a fender but always wanted a Gibson. Hopefully someday I will get one. More likely I will get an epiphone to hold me over until I can afford the real thing. I think that a Gibson sounds and feels amazing. The fender's are great and not as heavy probably a close second.

Exactly. I have seen a few in eBay that were cheaper around Christmas but still more than I have saved for one. It's still nice to dream.

Yeah, I've seen a few les paul special studios going for about 1200 on ebay but the whole not being able to play it before you buy it thing is sort of a turn off for me when it comes to buying guitars.

I know exactly where you're coming from haha, I was looking at a Gibson before I got the Fender but I just didn't have three grand to drop on a guitar ya know. But one day it'll happen.

I'm a Gibson girl. the SG is my perfect guitar. it sits just right on my body and the smaller neck and scale work really well with my hands. and it sounds and looks amazing.

Yeah personally my favorite guitar from Gibson is their les pauls, but they have a really nice Firebird X that they recently released that looks goregous.

From my personal view, you should have both guitar. Why? Because both of them serve different purpose and have different tone. Both guitar good in their own way. Fender have a thinner tone compares to Gibson. Thus it is good for contry song and some low distrotion song. While they are not that heavy with single coil pick up, but like iron maiden using, use a single coil alike humbucker pick up so it will give more heavier distrotion sound. Gibson is good for blues or heavy rock or metal song. The humbucker provide more solid, heavy, fat tone which provide very good distortion for metal and rock song. Since I'm use humbucker more often, I would prefer Gibson.

Yeah I can see that, I have a B.C. rich Mockingbird with humbuckers in it so I've got both sides of the spectrum covered. I haven't heard too many blues players who use a gibson though, probably the one that comes to mind is Joe Bonamassa. Any you recommend checking out?

Its hard to say. I love jimmy page and his unique sound with the gibson. Its great. But if I had to choose I think the sound of Stevie Ray and hendrix are better. They both have such a smooth and strong bluesy feel.

Yeah that's one reason I bought a fender, there is just such a variety of sounds that you can get out of them such as Jimmy or Stevie. If you like them then you should check out some of John Mayer's blues stuff on you tube. While he isn't Stevie, he definitely is capable with a guitar.

hi e_mendo2. Fender is also my favorite brand of guitar. Durable and great sound. Here in the Philippines, Ibanes are the common guitars played or used by professional musicians/guitarist. I dont know the reason why. All I can think is Fender is most Expensive than Ibanes and gibson when bought here in the Philippines. Have a nice day
