It was my first time to play badminton

Since I am on Sabbatical, I decided to start living healthy. And that means eating right, no vices like smoking and drinking, and of course, exercise. I have a friend who plays badminton professionally. So I asked her if she could teach me just the basics of badminton which will serve as my workout as well. So this morning was my first time. A couple of stretching drills first then off to learn badminton. Before I thought badminton is boring. When I watch it on TV, I get bored. But earlier when we were at the court, I really got into the zone. I enjoyed playing. So much! I know it was my first time, but when I got to learn even just the simple serving and hitting of the shuttlecock, I was hooked. I even asked my friend to make this a regular session with me. And she agreed! I had so much fun. Do you like sports? What sports are you into? What do you do to keep fit?
Just sharing!

I miss it sooooooooooooooooo much. I played badminton everyday with my friends. One of my favorite sports. Just so sad all my friends are married and we are so far from each other, it's been 3 years since the last time I hold a racket and hit a shuttlecock....:(((

one of my favorite sports is badminton. it really has a difference when your just watching by actually playing. even thought i love badminton, when i watch it on TV, i feel also bored at the same time thinking that what should i do to be like the professionals. i want to be a professional player of all types of sports. but without a proper training or without anytime at all in playing i cant continue myself in improving my game. i need competition to improve my game. because when competing with more knowledgeable players i can learn with them. but that's the problem i have no one to compete with. so its kinda boring to play without challenge for me.

Let me see...The last time I played badminton? I can't remember. Maybe 10 years ago. My friends stopped playing so I too stopped playing. It was fun though and a lot of sweat came out of my body. Nice way to loose weight. Now, I only jog once or twice a week. That is the only form of exercise I have as of today. hahaha...

There is no doubt about the fact that the simplest and stress free way to remain fit and trim is through the exercise ball. This contraption, which has been specially designed to assist injured athletes to recover from their injuries without putting unwarranted stress on their body, can also be used by you to stay fit. The best part of it is that most of the exercises done using this contraption are fun to undertake and provide you with the easiest methods of keeping your body toned. Ever since the exercise ball was invented, it has been used in various types of exercise disciplines inclusive of aerobics, pilates, and even yoga.
The sad part is that this contraption is not taken as seriously as it should. Most people believe that it is meant more for fun, rather than for keeping the body fit. This is a wrong conception as can be found out by discussing with any physical therapists who have used the exercise ball successfully to help athletes and sports persons recovering from serious injuries. In fact, this exercise equipment is one of the rare ones that can also help those who are suffering from injuries to the spine and regular use of the same can also help to strengthen the spinal cord.
Reclining over this ball under the back shapes the body in the form of a bow, thereby helping to expand the spinal cord. When the same task is done, with the inflated polyester sphere under the tummy, it helps to expand the spinal cord. This contraction and expansion of the spinal cord helps to strengthen it a lot. These are just a sampling of what one can achieve through this sporting equipment. Just try to balance yourself while sitting on it, which is a tough task as the ball tends to roll from one side to the other, and you will observe that your hips along with your lower back also move in opposite directions in order to remain seated on the contraption.

Yup, they say badminton is a healthy sport. It's particularly focused on cardio. What I like though is basketball and boxing. I've tried boxing a few years back and it was all cardio. I thought I wasn't gonna survive the whole session. I went for 3 sessions. That's even 1 session a week and I gave up. By the 3rd session we did sparring and I was beat big time. After that I told to myself I'm sticking with basketball. It did help me though. After 3 sessions I was able to climb a set of stairs without tiring too fast.

I like some sports, but not all. At the moment, I mostly go to the gym and do yoga and pilates, but I love badminton as well, and tennis... and many other sports as well! But I try to strive for some variation, so I don't do the same thing for too long....
