There is absolutely nothing wrong in accepting a mistake. Making mistakes is just something that is part of life for me. It is not a bad thing to make a mistake. So I just accept that there are times where I made a miscalculation. It is not really a bad thing. I just turn around and really hope that I can grow from whatever mistakes that I make. It is something that I can learn from, grow from and whatever.

For me Accepting my mistake should be my first priority but being human some times I don't. The circumstances or environment around us on that particular time when we do mistake is an driving force. But there is always chance to reconsider which I always do.
Accepting our wrong doings is always good because after that we get an unvalued peace of mind which never be with us without acceptance.

It depends on the fault of the person, for example if the person is a murderer and he asked for forgiveness, I don't think the family of the person he murdered would forgive him that easily. But if you meant the small harmless faults one makes, there's no reason not to forgive especially if the person at fault really is sincere.
