Today's students are obligated to learn so many things while in school. Fully loaded with subjects , too many books to read, too many skills to learn, many of them are stressed out and therefore learning is not successfully attained. It is as good as saying, jack of all trade, master of none. What is your opinion?

I think the problem here is the way curricula are planned. There are certain subjects which require very little thinking and thus, classes for these subjects needs to be minimized both in duration and focus. Still, most if not all schools balance the subjects equally as if one is not superior over the other. I think Math and Science should be prioritized over the other minor subjects. Personally, I believe that's a big reason why students are not getting the well-rounded education they are supposed to be getting. It's all in proper planning but stubborn school administrators stick to what is traditionally accepted just because it is much more convenient for "them".

It seems to me that the educational system is not very quick to catch up with the latest technological developments. Schools should take into account all the great advantages offered by the Internet and the computers, and how quickly people can now find information - so they might give the students a break, and stop making them learn so many useless things by heart. Instead, I think they should focus more on teaching how to research a topic, and how to interpret and analyze raw data.

I guess it is better now for students to be well-rounded in all areas of disciplines. remember, the world is now everything about globalization and competing with other people from other cultures - not just persons from the same country. Some people think that it is also an advantage to pursue more opportunities rather than be boxed in a specific category of industry or workforce. However, there are still persons who are really inclined into a specific skill and specialization.

Yes learning does become handicapped in such circumstances but is it really so derogatory to admit one is and jack of all trade! In my opinion the fault lies not in including so many subjects in the curriculum but in not linking those subjects to each other. We are taught so many different things separately in the sense that they are totally cutoff from each other, when it would be so much simpler, easier and not to mention interesting if we try to incorporate them into each other, All the things in this world, all the phenomenon, all the laws governing our universe are inter linked one way or another and trying to learn all this in isolation does seem fruitless in my opinion. You can't separate the mind from the body nor can you isolate your body from your soul or your soul from all the other existing souls!! Don't take me wrong though! We need masters to investigate further into a subject but then those masters need masters to help them do it and for this, they need to be jacks to recruit help!!! So live as whole and not in parts!!!

Today's generation students and teachers are prone in making their work a little more harder to augment with the times. Come to think of it, teachers do their share of work in the schools, same as the students. Students in turn, have to cope up with loaded subjects for them to study hard with different subjects. That's the job of the teachers. Students are against the overloaded subjects given by the teachers. Is it right or wrong for you as a student who don't trust the capability of the teacher? If that's what the teacher wants, then go for it and study. That's for your own good, not for your teacher. Your teacher is the backbone of our educational system, who knows the standards to be given or to be taught to the students. The work of a student is to study and learn, not anything else. While you're studying, get the best of it, study hard and learn the lesson in school & life. You need to get one degree and get the masteral degree if you can.

You got it right, teachers are out there to teach accordingly with the policies, and it's the duty of the student to study, the first reason why they are in school. But don't you think the policy is not fair not only for students but for teachers and most of all for the education system?

Hi there EdnaReyes!!! I think this saying is very true.In school the teachers teach students many new ideas in each subject. But this is just an introduction to a certain concept and not the whole package.Me as a student even if I am getting a high grade in a difficult subject, I cannot directly say that I have mastered that subject or knew everything about it. The student have many subjects in school that they can't actually have time to master everything that the teachers are throwing to them.If your good in a certain subject that doesn't mean that you knew everything about it.In order for someone to attain that level of knowledge his mind must be open to learning everyday.
