Hello,
It might be weird when I asked something like that. well, I work in a retail store... and it deals with breakfast every morning (Donuts, Coffee and sandwiches...etc.) For the past week, our Merchant Machine (the small credit card machine) was down and had to send to fix and we still accept Credit/Debit but we have to use old fashion way (scan card on the duplex paper, that the Bank gave us for temporarily). And then we got our Machine back and I was in charge to run all the Credit/Debit through the Machine... and it came up a few customers' cards were declined... I was in shock that they dont even have at least $3.60 in their bank account. I don't know what to say and now I have an extra work to do cuz I have to follow up with them for those declined cards... it is just a hassle. What do you think about this???

Hi smileonstar,
I dont know that many people didnt even have this much in their bank account but here in most private banks you need to keep 5000 rs ( about 110 American dollars) minimum in your bank account. As far as i am concerned i donot use debit or credit cars unless i get a fabulous discount using plastic money.I always pay cash , this way i do not over spend and know how much i am spending.

HI,
thanks for responding... I can't even believe it too... I tried like 3 or 4 times to charge it but it still not went through. then I tried to call to see if I can get a hold of them... however, NO respond too.
oh, well... I never do that, I always carry cash with me to pay for food another stuff... mostly I dont use my card too, unless I have to pay more than $500 or so. I never allow them to run through my card and told me back that it is declined... it is embarrassing

I think our bank requires at least $5.00 in the account to keep it open.

some banks here in California required some amount to keep it open, but they still spend all and it still remain open, I dont know why. I dont know about that but it is just too awful for not having $3.60 in your won account

It is sad that some folks don’t have at least $3.60 in their bank account; I guess they have their own reasons for not having any money but they should know not to spend cash that is non-existent. It is strange as a lot of banks expect at least five bucks in order to keep the account open...

I always have at least $100.00 in my checking account since my bank will transfer money from my savings to my checking if my checking account is below $100.00 and then they charge $10.00 to transfer it between the 2 accounts.

Well thanks for confirming what we have heard on television for years. I once heard that the average American has five EMPTY credit cards. I just don't get surprised anymore when people describe broke Americans. It's worse than a third world country, isn't it?
