Psychologically, I'm looking at it as just wanting to enjoy the cold, but without being IN the cold. It's super cold outside, but warm inside... so they eat something cold to enjoy it rather than be tortured by it.

Hi. laken02. I am also very curious to know just what is the craze for eating ice cream in the extreme colder temperatures too. I could never push myself to do something like that. A hot cup of cocoa or tea will move me, but not something that is freezing icy cold! Those folks must have some good warm and humid blood! Yikes!

Well really, I won't say no to some ice cream, no matter the conditions. However, for some reason to me, it does not really taste as good on a cold winter's night, as opposed to the middle of the summer months. Perhaps that is just really adding cold on cold. There is only so much cold that I can really stand before it becomes ponderous and it really does trouble me.
So no, I don't really get the craze of eating ice cream in the winter months. Perhaps that makes me the strange one. Actually that is a pretty good notion. That I am in fact strange. Actually though I don't want to say I really hate ice cream in the cold winter months. However the fact is that I like it much less. Therefore, not the biggest fan of ice cream in the winter months.

I love being indoors during winter and eating ice cream. I think the cold or the snow makes me crave it.

I agree, it seems like hot chocolate is a more suitable treat for a cold winters night. Usually, children and the elderly prefer a sweet treat, that is fun to eat. And ice cream does come in a wide variety of flavors, and different texture, like frozen or soft serve, often make a treat more tempting. Not to mention all the different toppings that simlpy make your mouth water, and a cherry on top, can pursuade me to have a sample myself.
