My name is Sadie and I am a hound dog, my home is with the Llamas, chickens, cats and dogs that live on Mom and Dad's ranch. I protect the whole ranch from invaders,
but today I met my first horses, they came with their rider to visit and they were dancing horses. They have traveled all over the country putting on shows, where they dance with just their rider to tell them what to do, no bridel or reins, just the rider on their back. They are very important animals and Mom made me sit in respect of them. But I really wanted to run them off, I don't care how important they think they are this is my ranch and I'm in charge. I got so upset I was shaking but I didn't bark and made Mom proud by staying in sit. Even the Llamas felt these two horses were special they didn't try to chase them off or even give their warning of danger call. But I am going to remember them and maybe next time
Mom won't notice and I can run them off before she sees them. I'm a guard dog after all.

o looool
Thats a pretty good inside for your dogs head)
My dalmatian met his first horses in the center of town, in deep deep night. One young pair was riding in carriage, it was a romantic date))
My dalmatian pulled me after it, we were running practically. I thought - here, he is remembering that he is running after carriages dog, it's in him... expect when we neared them and he smelled them he stood and refused to move until that carriage changed his way. He decided that they are dangerous dangerous beasts.
He was really careful, ready to protect me and didn't allow me to move closer to it hehe

Wow, Lisander, your Dalmatian felt the blood of his ancestors pouring in his veins!
I imagine how would I manage to keep it up with Binne if she met a wild boar.
Until now she only met a deer while we were hiking in the woods. She was first so surprised, that she stood there, looking at the new possible playing partner. I had time to take a photo and then they both dissappeared in the woods.
Binne returned to me after a few minutes. In the meantime, I lost my voice calling her...

But she ignored me, too! She does so when she's too excited about something. And the deer was quite a meeting!
Though, I wouldn't blame it to our dogs, it's us who don't know how to make ourselves more interesting than anything else. When there are no distractions (like strays or other dogs) she's the best dog ever!
Here's the photo I told you about. You can see the deer right in front of Binne, in the middle of the path.
The photo is a little unclear, as it was late in the afternoon and the light was not so good in the forest. Anyway, who had time to change the settings of the camera?

Welcome, Sadie. It can be like that on MyLot, too. There are some of us who have read and know the rules here and know what should go and what should not. Then along comes someone who 'dances' over the rules and seems to make their own.
Yes, it makes you tremble and shake because you KNOW that they are out of order but you can't do anything because your better nature says they should be allowed.
Maybe next time you see horses, they really won't belong.

Dancing horses? Wow Sadie, I am so glad you didn’t run them off! You should be very proud of yourself for behaving just like mum expected you to. I know you are a very good guard dog but dancing horses? Come now! Dancing horses are beautiful and to be enjoyed not chased away! You be good Sadie and respect these beautiful horses next time they come back and keep doing the great work you’ve been doing!

Oh Sadie, the horses would never hurt you. I understand that this was the first time that you've ever had an experience with a horse, but there is really no reason that you should want to run them off. They aren't going to be like some of the other animals that you encounter that are foreign to your ranch. They aren't going to hurt the other animals and they aren't going to hurt you either. Instead next time they come to visit, perhaps you should try to become friends with them.

Sadie, you are a good guard dog. What important guests they were. You do an excellent job protecting all the other critters. I bet you could be a dancing dog, but you have more important things to do, and more dignity than that. Mom and Dad know that you are the best when it comes to guarding their ranch.

Hi Sadie, I'm sure that you are a fine guard dog too, but even guard dogs have to listen to mom and dad. Maybe those horses won't be back again but if they do, just remember what mom told you. I think that she may know best after all, so let's give her the benefit of the doubt okay.

Well, Sadie not all visitors are unwelcome..
I didn't know that hounds make good guard dogs.. I thought they really just wanted to follow their nose to the next exciting scent.
I would have loved to meet those dancing horses, I bet they were pretty.
You have such a great life.. my dogs have only met cats.. we have plenty of them.. they haven't got to meet llamas and chickens and horses. It must be exciting.
I bet your mom is so proud of you for sitting and staying and not barking- I would be.. by dogs are just plum crazy sometimes and I don't think they would have sat so quietly for a new exciting animal.
Good girl Sadie...

Hi there, Sadie,
I was surprised to see that you said you are a guard dog. C'mon, girl, you're a Hound, as well as I'm a Terrier! We should not do anything but hunting!
I understand that you love your Mom and Dad and you do the guard job as well. Me, too, I have to play the companion all the time, but I can't wait to go to the forest to be a real hunter of the underground critters.
We, girls, should do whatever it is needed to please our Moms, shouldn't we?
When I met my first horse, I was young and ignorant, I didn't know what was that huge animal and I didn't pay attention to it because I was playing with an adult German Shepperd. I was overwhelmed by the attention he gave me, so I had no eyes for the horse. Now, reading your story, I imagine I should have chased him away but... I am excused 'coz I was only 3 months old.
I am impressed that you know the language of Llamas. I haven't seen a Llama until now, my Mom told me that in my country they can be seen only at the Zoo. Maybe I'll be so lucky to visit you sometime, and then I'll see a real Llama and maybe you'll teach me their language.
Keep up your good job there, at the ranch, Sadie,
Love,
Binne the Airedale
