Stress

So, I'm sure a few of you have noticed I haven't been around a lot lately.
Well, part of that is the fact that I've been stressing over my van.
You see, the transmission started to go. So, I had to decide, did I want another transmission or a new car?
I LOVED my van. I got it new! I put nearly every single mile on it.
But... it was a 1999. So, I had to decide, and I decided that it was just an invitation to more problems if I fixed it, whereas if I got a new (used) car, it would be newer - it would have fewer miles on it - it would be up to taking a road trip if I felt like it.
And I do feel like it.
The last time I was out of town was when the roomie and I went to see Jeff Dunham, I think in 2008. I haven't honestly been further than Kyle (about 20 miles) since then.
So, after paying off the house last week, I had an idea of how much I had left and went car shopping.
Between the trade in on my van, I managed to get the cost down to just where I could afford it. But its beautiful.
Hard to tell in the pix, but its a very dark blue, with sparkles in it.
No, its not new, its a 2008, but it was one of those, these things drive off the lot faster than we can keep them sort of used car - in fact, after my test drive, someone else was looking at it!
But I wanted it, and I got it!
Isn't she a thing of beauty?
I'm going to call her my TARDIS!

Yeah, sometimes fixing it could cost you more than just buying a new second hand car. Good thing you opt on the latter because some people would just hold on to their firsts, putting sentimental value on it like it has a life of its own, which is impractical in my opinion. I've had a mobile phone that had been broken several times due to its flex cord and fixing it costs around P300.00 to P400.00. The 4th time it broke on me I just realized I had enough and went to buy a new one that isn't a slide phone (my previous was a Samsung SGH-E250 slide phone) so it won't have to disturb the flex whenever I need to call, text someone, or browse the net. I'm actually happy that I made that decision, buying a new one. I've always thought that Samsung phones are a lot durable than Nokias but I guess I was wrong. ..and I'm staying away from flip phones and slide phones or any phones that you have to unfold or whatever for you to use it. They may look luxurious and stylish but I'm after durability and reliability.

Lol at Tardis. I am glad to know you have a reliable vehicle. I would drive it, happily. I am going to go look at all the pictures that you have posted. I am thinking of the cats you can rescue with it, and do all the things you need to do. 2008 is just old enough to be broken in. I hope you enjoy every minute of driving it for many years. Wanna come to Kansas?

That is a couple of hours from here, let me know when I can always go on a road trip. Dodge City had a once in a lifetime weather phenomenon last week. The steam from a manufacturing plant was blown by certain winds and turned into an inch of snow. They say it is like "Lake effect snow" up by the Great Lakes.

VERY NICE ELIC! I think you made a very good choice! My sister has a Kia and has had no problems with it at all. And I think they've got some of the best prices around for the money!
It's very pretty and I hope you have lots of fun in it. Now you can take your trips and not have to worry about anything, just simply enjoy.
Did you have fun car shopping? I know alot of people hate it, but I think if I had the chance, I'd try and enjoy that adventure.
I had to sell my car last year, just couldn't afford the repairs and insurance anymore. I'm hoping someday to get another little S10 with 4 wheel drive. I had one once and loved it. But I sure do like yours!

I'm happy for you, Elic! It feels so good being in a new car (or a new to YOU car). Maybe some day I can get another car myself. Right now, I am car-less and dependent on others. Thankfully, I don't have a lot of places to be.

I am very happy for you. My poor car is gymping along until I can get the money together to replace it. I call it my colander on wheels. LOL...cuz everything leaks...the a/c, the tranny, the oil, the coolant, the power steering, just everything. At least they all work, I just spend a fortune in fluids! If you want to take a road trip, you're welcome to come visit me. Heeheeheeeeee.

Oh no, not the van...gone? You will surely miss it???
I hope the Kia can do all you want and need. It does look so nice. I'm in the market for a new car but there are no funds available at this time. I've been getting a few jobs though lately and it just might continue for a while so I'm trying to get my credit card down and then I will look at saving for a "new " car.
Happy for you I am.
