Andy Gray On 1.7 Million A Year?! I'm Glad He's Gone!

Andy Gray is a co-commentator and soccer pundit on Sky Sports and he's got into hot water over comments (off-air) regarding a female linesperson, along with his sidekick Richard Keys. Eventually, Gray got sacked as Keys has apologised to the lineswoman, Gray has not, for his sexist comments.
Now, I don't want to get into whether or not he should've been sacked BUT he was paid 1.7 MILLION quid a YEAR!! I mean, that's INSANE! John worked it out that Gray was on over 30 grand A WEEK! Even Blackpool soccer players don't get that..they're on 10 grand a week max, which is bad enough but quite good for Premiership wages.
I reckon Sky have got rid of him because they've gotta pay for that sh*tty waste of money that's 3D telly somehow!
The world of telly has - officially - gone stark raving bonkers!

It seems this has been a year for people putting their feet in their mouths and doing inappropriate things. It is outrageous how much we pay sports stars and television celebrities.

I just saw a news report about Regis retiring from his show. He was making twenty one MILLION a year! What would anyone need that kind of money for.

Regis is a talk show host for a morning talk show. He has been there forever. They wanted to cut his pay because ratings are beginning to fall and because he takes lots of time off.

Deal! That Shepherd Smith bloke on Fox News is on about 7 million dollars is he? Have they sent him to Afghanistan yet? If he's on the front line maybe he's worth it..and take Gray with him!

eeeuuwww how can they justify paying anyone that much! (mind you not that I would be complaining if it was me lol) - seriously, how ridiculous is it though when people are living below the breadline in this country and kids are living in poverty. How much could a good charity do with half of that amount every year added to their budget....

I couldn't agree more debsgw. Obscene amount of money in anybody's language. The transfer window went crazy as well. People are going to be put off my all this money sloshing around the coffers of Sky. You notice the subscriptions keep going up? Makes my blood boil.

Thirty grand a week I wouldn't complain either. In fact I would want to a friend, where you reckon I can find him.

He is one of the best soccer commentators around. 1.7 million a year though is excessive

I agree that he didn't annoy me as much as he did with some people out there..but I had no idea how much money he was on until he got sacked! In fact, I sympathised with the guy (to start with) as stories like these get blown up out of all proportion. I reckon the powers that be were looking for an excuse to get rid of him as he thought he was "untouchable" at Sky.
Fraid not!
I'd love it if the Sky subscriptions came down as a result but I doubt members of the public will be rewarded as a consequence of Gray's departure.
