Do you worry about commenting on certain posts because it may become too controversial? What makes you pass by a certain discussion? What is your favorite to respond to?

I come here to have FUN! I don't join in topics that I would not dicsuss offline like politics and religion for example but almost anything else, if I can relate to it and if I have time, will cause me to stop off and read. Where I stop off and respond or comment depends on my mood and whether I am here from home or from work too. I can't get involved in long discussions with back and forth comments from work like I can when I am at home. I don't have a particular favourite but I do spend a lot of time in this interest, especially on the topics that ask advice about myLot. Even more so if they are started by a newer user Welcome aboard!

I really do have fun here! I like to learn from other people and I like to get to know different personalities and mylot is a great place for that. Thanks for keeping it real with your post! I appreciate your perspective very much. I can imagine you are a great mentor here. I think I will find my place in a certain topic as well. Thank you for the welcome! Great comment Hatley! I plan on settling in here. Well, I hope! Thank you for sharing that experience, I certainly related to it in my own way.

hi jodylee I by pass some religious discussions when both poster and responders swear their religion is the only right one and the other person is a nutso for not changing to his religion. I do not want to become part of a mylot war at all. I love almost all the various discussions if I can understand and give a great response to. I do not have a particular favorite.

Mylot war huh? Are people fairly open minded or do you really need to find a certain topic area and stick with it? I am enjoying my time here so far and am finding it to be a great resource. I like looking at the different discussions, spending a bit of time on a post and then shifting my brain to something totally different.

I don't have a favorite topic really. I just respond to whatever grabs my attention. I am not afraid of the controversy or being challenged at all. I'm pretty open minded and sometimes someone with an opposing view and a strong enough argument might even get me to see something from another angle. I look at it as a learning experience. I'll argue my point as fiercly as the other guy but a part of me is always open to seeing their side of it and sometimes I concede and sometimes I don't. Either way...not afraid.

I really enjoy conversations that make me rethink my views. I sometimes end up at the same place as I started and other times it is like crossing a river to the other side.

I feel like that is very much how I am. I have learned almost everything I know from someone else. I like to hear what others have to say and watch my opinions grow. It can be very eye opening to look at something from the opposite side of the spectrum. Do you feel like mylot has made your beliefs stronger?

Hi jodylee and welcome to myLot. I really do not have a specific interest, as I am one to respond to most anything that I can relate to. Even if something may interest me though, I may pass it up if I do not have anything of quality to ccontribute with. I do enjoy when the discussion starter comes back and responds so to my comment as many times it leads to furthering of the discussion. Good luck to you and I do wish you a great success on myLot.

I am finding it to be difficult to get more conversations going with people. I have started a few discussions and have not had many people responding, so have been curious why. I think it is important to get back at people when you start a conversation. In your opinion what is too long for a discussion to sit before responding. Is it rude to respond six months later or is it thought of as better late then never?

Many thanks for that response. Thank you for looking at my older discussions to see how I am doing. I appreciate your looking at that and commenting. I am glad to hear it is not too late. I have a few comments out there that I want to get back to and was thinking I might look like a fool going back to far. You have been most helpful and I look forward to many more discussions. Thank you again for all the tips and advice, you certainly are a good mentor.

Hello Jodylee and be welcomed to myLot! I can usually be found in dogs interest. There is where I feel at home. I am mad about dogs and there are too few discussions in that interest that I haven't participated in. But I do respond to any kind of discussion, as long as I feel like I have something to say. I don't like to repeat what other users already said, so sometimes I end up just reading responses without adding anything new. From the material point of view, this is a good way of loosing your time here , you'll see. I don't want to participate in the discussions started by some users (you will get to know them, too) because they don't have the good habit of discussing. They just start the discussion and leave it like this. I enjoy discussing here, and I don't want to waste my time for this kind of question&answer topics. Last week I've learned my lesson and I decided not to start again a discussion about a delicate subject (like plagiarism in myLot ), so that my friends won't have their posts deleted together with my discussion.

Well, some users come here with the perception that myLot is like Yahoo Answers , where somebody asks a question and dozens of people respond to it. It takes time to change their perception, but it's not impossible. Some newbies (like you) take myLot the way it is, and they are good myLotters right from the beggining. Now, about deleted discussions, you will find out that sometimes Admin deletes the discussions that violate the guidelines. It was not my plagiarism discussion's case - it was deleted because its subject was... solved.

I have noticed that with the Yahoo Answers comparison. That is not my perception at all. This seems so much bigger than that. So there is an admin that can delete. Does that mean the money given is taken back from you? I have looked a bit at the guidelines but need to read more so as to not violate anything here. So your plagiarism case was solved. That is interesting too. What does that mean?

Interesting! I have felt a bit irritated by those that do not respond to my posts. I feel that if you have started a discussion you should respond and continue it on. I imagine plagiarism in mylot was quite a discussion. But, what do you mean it was deleted? Who does that?

i don't really worry about commenting because it will become too controversial, and i don't usually post on controversial things. i don't worry about this but i am a little bit annoyed when people misunderstand my comments. i pass by a discussion that doesn't interest me or i don't have anything to say about. my favorite discussion to respond to are discussions that interest me, especially soccer discussions.

It can be tough when things get misunderstood. So your interested in soccer? My guess is you play/ed keeper. Am I right? I played for many years and now about once a year. I was mostly center midfield and more on the defensive, depending on the set up.

I usually avoid religious and political discussion, and go with health, nature or animals discussions or life in general but lately due to a big change in my spiritual life I start to respond to religious discussions too political I am not interested in and know nothing about it only a few times I respond to political discussions and started a few too but mostly because it has something to do with the economy

I have certainly seen a few good religious discussions and hope to learn more from others experiences. I have avoided religious conversations for much of my life and have been at a crossroads lately. Hopefully mylot can help me further my exploration of my beliefs. I tend to like discussions involving the economy. It is something we all can relate to it seems as we all use money. Thank you so much for sharing!

I don't worry about a certain post becoming too controversial because I feel that we all have our own opinion and beliefs and if someone gets upset over what one person says...well so be it. I won't concern myself with that and allow it to upset or stress me out. I guess I pass up a discussion for a couple of different reasons, One reason being that it simply does not interest me and the second reason being, if I don't have any knowledge on the subject at hand I am not going to comment and act like I know what I am talking about. (: I don't believe I have a favorite discussion topic that I respond to. I just enjoy a good conversation/discussion with intelligent people.

I think controversy can be fun and it is easy to get in debates with people who are passionate about a subject. I think I pass on certain topics that do not interest me as well, but then I like to read a bit first to make sure. It can be fun to learn from everyone on here. Do you feel there is a good amount on intelligent conversation on here?

I know darn well that if I comment on politics or religion, my star ratting will go down. People misuse the star and give negitives when they disagree with the post. It is supposed to be used for good or bad content, not approval or disapproval, but there is no way to fix it without adding a section as to why it is a good or bad post.

Very interesting! I had no idea about the star rating in that sense. Thank you for enlightening me to that. Politics and religion really do get people jazzed and passionate.

I usually try to stay away posts about religion. When I first started out on here I would comment on anything, and I was actually a little drawn to posts about religion. But I started staying away after seeing how ignorant and testy some users could get, or even how racist some users could be. It used to upset me that people could be so closed-minded, but I decided that some people are that way and you just have to deal with it because you cannot always change it, especially online. I know I've been rated negatively for just stating my opinion, in a respectful way I might add, on here simply because I have a different opinion. Since a negative experience concerning that I stay away from certain topics. I don't really have a favorite type of discussion to respond to. If it's something that I have thoughts on and can relate to or give advice on then I will do so. If I feel very passionately about something however, I will comment on it regardless of whether it's controversial or not.

It seems a lot of people feel this way about the religious topics. It is too bad because it is hard to find a conversation going about religion between people without some sort of ridiculous "mine is better" message going on. I love to hear others peoples beliefs and can respect all types of ideas about what is out there but I am finding myself steering away from religion. It is too bad to get rated badly because of your beliefs and not because of your posts and the quality. I hope to find the areas where these conversations can be had, but perhaps not posting with the religious topic would be better.

Well, I pass some post because I may not have anything to say to it, or I might not have any idea of what that particular post gonna talk about. I simply pass those posts due to many reasons. I want to try to make money there too, but if I can't answer a particular question, I simply let it go, that is all.

I can understand that and appreciate that. I have found myself passing by many discussions because I just do not feel I can contribute. Do you find you stay in certain interests more often or do you venture out to a wide array more often?

Hi jodylee, and welcome to myLot. I'm here to relax, not to argue, like many other users, so yes, I stay away from topics that tend to heat up too much - mostly politics and religion. I don't mind the star rating so much - it goes down anyway every time I respond to one of my favorite topics, which is astrology - but so be it, then. I do mind however getting annoyed by a rude answer - I have enough problems in my life without arguing with people on the Internet I also try to avoid certain users; some people are really passionate about their discussions. Me, if I post something online, is because I expect people to have various opinions about the said subject. If I hold something truly sacred, I won't open the subject, period.

I had not really thought about avoiding certain users. I imagine I will learn with time what to avoid. I imagine certain users can get carried away and when you see a post it would be easier to move by. I feel the same in that I want to relax. My life is pretty stress and drama free so I will be working hard on keeping my time here the same.

I really don't care about what, or how, others take what I say. I just express my opinion, or answer the question, and, well, you know.. I really respond only to what makes sense to me, at first glance, and is really quite simple. So, i would pass a long, elaborate question or topic I do not care for, much. I focus on topics i relate to, or like, such as cooking, sports, or life, in general. and, money making, of course.

That certainly seems to be the general consensus from this post. I certainly understand not bothering with posts that do not make a lot of sense. I am happy to discuss most any topic but you are right, it is important to connect with the subject matter of course. Have you found useful tips on making money here in mylot and the rest of the internet?

I don't really have favorite discussion. I love to answer anything that I have an opinion about. I sometimes will avoid a discussion if the responses seem to be getting hostile. I know quite a few people who have stopped using mylot because they were harassed by other users who didn't agree with their thinking. I need the extra money for my family, so I don't want to ruffle feathers that will cause me to lose money for my family.

I can certainly understand that. How sad people have left because of that. I am finding myself steering away from discussions that are getting negative. Have you felt this way since your beginning days of mylot or is it something you learned more from experience here?
