well,i know that its difficult to compare these two cricketers, as viru is a more experienced opener and yusuf pathan is a middle order batsman and all rounder.
but these two are dangerous batsman in ODI cricket.
both bat well using their power, these two never mind swing and spin.
both viru and yusuf can bat well under any circumstances.
these two are simply match winner, these two can change the match from any situation, and make opposition under pressure.
yusuf had only 2 odi centuries but that doesnt matter.
these two explosive batsmans are big asset for indian team.
viru bats as opener so he may not face much pressure, but yusuf always face the pressure as he is a middle order batsman.
so in these two match winners, who is the most dangerous batsman??
is viru or yusuf, who is most dangerous batsman??

Most Cricket fans have pretty shot memories !
If this question was asked after Yuvi hit 6 sixes everyone would have written YUVRAJ.
Had this been asked after Viru hit his triple century, all fans would have unanimously said VIRU.
It is no surprise that most responses have been for Yusuf.
Few hits & a couple of centuries do not classify one as the most destructive batsman. This style of play cannot be carried on for ever. Look at Dhoni & Yuvraj. Most bowlers have sorted them out & they are forced to change their style of play.
However it is only Shewag has stood the scrutiny from all bowlers & teams of the world. Any opposing captain will give a higher price for Shewag's wicket.
It is due to these facts that i will surely cast my vote for Shewag

ya surely form is temperory and class is permanent.
but yusuf pathan is currently in form, thats what forced me to start this discussion.
i know that every player has his own style and capability.
but the main reason for my comparison of these two is they always like to hit the ball and score runs quickly.
surely if yuvi or dhoni or virat has scored some blistering knocks recently, then i would have started a discussion comparing that player with viru.

The answer is simple- Virender Sehwag
He opens the batting and faces the new ball. He has no footwork yet he destroys the bowlers. He gives a good start and also de-moralises the bowlers.
Yusuf is not so good in opening innings. Also, he is a batsman known for hitting sixes i.e playing shots in the air. Sehwag plays ground shots as well.
Sehwag definitely is best but Yusuf is match killer as well.

but friend, viru dont face much pressure as he opens for india always.
but yusuf is playing in middle order. so handling the pressure and playing good shots under pressure is very difficult, but he is doing it well currently.
surely viru can hit some good fours+ sixes, but yusuf mainly hits sixes.
but both are good hitters, and hope that both will play well in WC

Both are excellent players.Whereas, Viru has proved himself in all sorts of cricket, remember at present he has the highest score among Indians in test cricket. Pathan is yet to be tested in test cricket, as a matter of fact, he is yet to be tested in One dayers also. The world cup will be a litmus test for him, and if he succeeds in the world cup, then we can compare him with viru.Till then Viru is the best.

ya viru is more experienced senior player.
he have played in every format.
but at present in odi cricket, both viru and yusuf are good batsman and can deliver their best in any circumstances, surely this WC will be a big test for yusuf.
lets hope that these two will play well and it will lead the indian team to a dream victory.

Hi,
I think Yusuf Pathan is more dangerous than Virender Sehwag.
Both are unpredictable, both are inconsistent, but Yusuf is in perfect form now.
He made 435 runs in IPL-1 for Rajasthan Royals with a fantastic strike rate of 179. He also made quickest fifty in just 21 balls at that time.
This wonderful performance gave him a place in One Day Internationals.
Then in IPL-3, he made fastest century in just 37 balls.
And then he strikes against New Zealand and made huge 316 runs.
His recent form is wonderful as evident by his fantabulous performance in South Africa. He made it impossible for them to sleep comfortably.
In this WorldCup, one thing is sure, only Pitch Hitters are going to bring victory for their team. India have two great Pitch Hitters in the form of Sehwag and Yusuf.
They both are great Pitch Hitters, but Yusuf is in form and this makes him extremely dangerous.

ya inform yusuf is very dangerous.
its always good to have these kind of players in the team, luckly india has got two such players.
these two are really unpredictable and always ready to score, no matter what the opposition is, no matter who the bowler is, no matter what the situation is?
these guys just hit it and score runs.
the two centuries from yusuf in the recent past was really unbelivable knock.
it has been an long time, that we have seen a century from viru in ODI, lets hope that it will happen in this world cup.

actually it is a very good thing for indian cricket.one monster upfront and after u pick 5 wickets and try to relax there is another monster waiting.
but to pick either of 2,even it may should stupid,i would go with yusuf.he seems kinda matured.he plays aggresive strokes only for spinners at the beginning and doesn't mind scoring singles from the quickies.
as for sehwag,he is just bam bam.situations doesn't matter to him.
i have a doubt that if there was a test match with india needs 30 to win with only one wicket remaining of one over, sehwag would go for sixes instead of making sure there is no loss

Seeing to the occasions bath the batsmen came to bat I think Yusuf is more dangerous than Sehwag.Sehwag as an opener always get powerplay advantage so that he can hit the ball over the fielders. But this is not the case with Yusuf. He comes to bat around 30 to 35 overs and at these overs team has to preserve its wickets and also very pressured situations.

ya thats a valid point, you have put.
viru gets the advantage of powerplay.
but yusuf dont get the advantage of powerplay.
and yusuf scores under pressure, specially if its second batting.
that defenitely shows the courage of the player to score in any condition.
sehwag was also used as a middile order batsman in the starting of his carrier, its Ganguly who made viru the opener.

Hi Venkit,
Both of these players have the same talents but different in executing their plans.Yusuf has said that he was inspired by Virender Shewag.Yusuf was known to the cricket world by the INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE.It was during this edition Yusuf did some miracles for the Rajasthan Royals. With his support the Rajasthan Royals were able to lift the trophy. In the second and third edition also he played some superb shots. These two guys will be a tension for the opposition teams.India looks strong in batting but their bowling is under worry. It is very difficult to judge that who is the dangerous batsman. Both hit the balls out of the park and it is impossible to compare between these two batsmen.
Have a nice day.

Good question venkit. You thought of this question because Yusuf hit that mind boggling century. Every time a new batsman plays such an innings are we going to change our minds? Yusuf has to go a long way in proving himself as better than Viru in that aspect of the game. Yusuf is yet to prove himself good enough to be included in Test matches. Sehwag apart from his excellent hand eye coordination in playing his bang bang type of cricket, has got excellent forward defensive stroke. The master of this art Sunil Gavaskar has appreciated him for this number of times. Yusuf sometimes finds it difficult to play defensive stroke against quality balling. Let us see how Yusuf shapes up and we will change our mind.

ya sehwag may be technicaly more strong when compared to yusuf.
but whom else we can compare the bang bang yusuf??
but i dont think yusuf will be in a position where he will be forced to play defensive cricket, because he plays in middle order, and we always want him to attack, attacking is the best way of defense, thats the key for viru and yusuf.
and viru also have some disadvantages, his foot does not move well,

Dear Venkit,
I do not think that it is fair to compare Sehwag to Yousuf. Sehwag has been playing all forms of cricket and more over has been playing for a long time. Yousuf has just entered the scene of international cricket. For any sort of comparisons to happen, some amount of time should be given to Yousuf to prove his potential in the long run.
I would think it would be a better idea to compare Sehwag to other openers and Yousuf to lower order batsmen. But given the look of things I believe Yousuf is here to stay... And I pray that he stays...!!!

if i wish to compare yusuf with some one in the indian team, then whom should i go for? there is only viru who can be compared with yusuf.
surely, viru is more experienced, and yusuf has not played well in the past, but now playing well, me to hopes that he will stay in the team with his good hard hitting power.
hope that this two will play well and help india to win the WC

They are still quite different in terms of their success. Viru has achieved much more success in test arena but in ODIs he try to hit too quickly and hasnt achieved his potential.
PAthan, well he doesnt do that well in earlier chances he got in ODIs but now he has grabbed all chances with both hands.
Would be a wonder to watch both of them bat at the same time and smash the opposition bowlers to all parts of ground.

They are both amazing players. But i do feel that Yusuf Pathan has some catching up to do to reach the level of Viru.
