This is a photo of my Beagle, Buster outside in the snow. He loves to grab a jowl full of snow, then toss it in the air. I keep trying to get a photo of that, but my cameras shutter doesn't work that quickly. I love seeing his trails he makes in the snow and follows all winter long. Just recently he has ventured to the very back of the yard and behind the garage. he hadn't previously due to the snow being so deep and it being so cold here. Now he loves watching the little critters attempt their ventures around the yard in the snow. Does your dog or pet like the snow or not? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Ciara - Ciara loves the snow.
My girls are at the age where it is hard to get a good picture of them both together, so I'll just share a picture of Ciara, who loves the snow more than Penny. I even caught Ciara once lying in the snow like she was basking in the summer sun.. In the picture I am sharing, I had actually called Ciara to come inside, she looks at me and then turns her head as if to say, "I can't hear you!"

That's interesting because I thought Ciara did this because she has the long border collie coat. Though Penny likes the snow, because of her beagle coat, she doesn't like to stay out in it as long.

That would be so funny to see. My male cats are lazy and stay inside. I do not think they like the snow at all. My female cat does. I guess her biggest prank is to walk all over the cars with dirty paws.

Oh I am glad Buster is enjoying the weather. Our dog Sandy goes crazy in the snow. She is still young so she is quite hyper and she loves to trample around in it chasing snow flakes and jumping in mounds. She is a mixed breed with some golden retriever and who knows what else mixed in. We live in the south so we did not get enough snow to keep her bogged down. She enjoyed it very much though!

Well, Buster is a senior citizen in doggie years. He isn't as agile as he was 6 years ago so his actions have slowed down a lot. But a racon or squirrel, or rabbit enters his realm, he'll run like crazy to chase it off. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

well we dont have a dog, we have a cat...and if she could get out I am sure she would but not in the snow since she doesnt like water... My husband wants to get a dog, but I keep putting it off...he brought home a cat a year ago and I have been dealing with that...she tore all our screens, scratched 3 cupboards and snagged 2 rugs... but now she is fixed and can't destroy anything...but I am not ready for a dog yet...that would be something else for me to clean up. have a great day!!

One cat we had many years ago liked the wnow to a point actually. But when she would touch the snow she'd jump sky high all the way to where she wanted to get to. It was hilarious watching her jump straight up like that for 5 6 times in a row. I used to laugh so hard watching it, I'd set her out just to see it again. yeah our yard gets to be a HUGE mess in the summer. But I try my best to cleran his "piles" daily. Now the wintertime, nope, it sits till tghe spring thaw. Then the yard really reeks to high heaven. HAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

Okay Grandpa, now I am jealous. I only have fish, as we live in a small apartment, which it is not allowed to have pets. I am one that unless I have the space availability for them to run around free, I would feel cruel. I love dogs and love seeing them run around. As I can't imagine them in cages and or ties up. Your Buster seems to be a very happy dog. Keep up the great work!

don't be jealous. A fish is a lot easier to tend to than Buster. HAHAHA! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

I don't have a dog right now, but I've noticed how happy the dogs are when they play in the snow. Even the poor strays that have no home and no owner to take care of them forget about their sorrow and enjoy the fresh snow. I wonder if wild dogs or even wolves enjoy the snow like the dogs.

When I had dogs they always liked playing in the snow. I had a shepard and a small dog. The shepard liked to push the small dog in the snow and bury him. it was great fun for both of them. The small dog would chase the big dog and grab onto the big dogs tail, the big dog would keep running. the small dog would get airborn hanging on. It was so funny watching it. I always ment to get it on video and never did. once the dogs got a few years old they didn't do that anymore. It sure was fun to watch them playing in the snow.

I do not thing the "boys" like the snow. Princess goes out every day. I think she does like the snow and the animal adventures in the back yard. No, she does not get snow in her mouth though. She wants Mexican food. Kind of me, when it is cold.

Dear Mr.Bob, I am really happy to know about the ventures being attempted by your dear dog Beagle. I am a Vet and besides that I am a big dog lover also. I always wonder at the plays these pets attempts. Since I am from India and we belong to tropical region we don't have snow fall here so unfortunately my dogs miss to play such games like yours. I live at a place where we have sandy soil and in chase of some rodent like a field mice or rabbit all my 5 Labradors dig the soil into pig pit within no time to get the poor thing out and kill it! Well though it looks cruel I really can't help it as it is their instinct and it comes natural to them so I never interfere with this activity of theirs. Anyways , I am pleased to meet another dog lover on this forum! Thanks !

I like the picture of Buster. We don't have any animals right now but when we had our yorkie (she passed away) she never did like the snow. She would try to walk out and potty really fast and run back in to hurry up and get out of the snow. She didn't like when it rained either.

my little fella, (he's a shih tzu) has short dumpy legs so is very close to the ground. He seems to enjoy the snow, but his undercarriage gets big lumps of ice stuck to it. when i get him indoors i have to pick all the ice off. The cats are a different matter. When we had our really deep snow, they flatly refused to go out, far too cold for their delicate little paws ! Interesting though, all dogs sneeze when they are out in the snow. they snuffle along quite happily digging their noses deep into the snow, then they sneeeeze!

Hi Grandpa Bob, thank you for best response, I remembered posting that all those months ago, but sadly now I only have 1 cat, (when I posted that I had 3) but still have little short legged doggy, bless him. and also yes its great to hear from you. I have had a few health problems recently so havent been going on line so much so have missed a lot of Mylot friend discussions. but look forward to discussing gardening issues in the near future!

Gus and Cookie aren't too excited by the snow although there are times when they seem to get a wild hair and take off running through it. Usually, they just want to do their business and get back inside! Cookie will spend hours outside, though, when the squirrel visits to eat some of the seed that falls from the birdfeeder. She'll stay under that tree jumping and barking like she has a spring in her bottom while the squirrel laughs at her. The snow under the tree is packed tightly due to the birds and Cookie's jumping.

I love that picture! No, my Sherlock doesn't like the snow. He tries to avoid it if at all possible. He'll go on the clear sidewalk instead of going straight across the yard.

a few years back, actually, quite a few years back, we had a bit of snow and Zoe, the roomie's dog, didn't know what to make of it! However, because of her bad leg, she doesn't do well with the cold and since she's almost 10 now we have to be more careful of that bad leg than before...

Hello Granpa Bob. Well at the moment i have a cat in my appartment, she is only about 7-8 months old, and this is her first winter. She doesn't usually goes out, and my dad tried taking her in the snow a couple of times, but she was scared of it everytime. I think the fact that is wet is bothering her, because she does stay out on the window until she gets cold with no regard to negative temperatures.

Horse "laughing" - Horse making weird faces
Awww, how cute! My horse doesn't mind the snow. He likes rolling in it if it's nice and soft, but the moment we only have lots of stone hard snow and ice :-/ Which isn't really very nice to roll in. And no weather forecast predicts more snow at the moment either *sigh* Only more rain. Winter without snow is really quite depressive.

My animals don't seem to enjoy the snow that much. I bet it is very interesting and funny seeing your dog having fun in the snow. Have a good weekend!
