My thoughts are that parents shame their children because they are shamed themselves. It is easy to take things out on and prey on the young. I am not sure how a person could do this to their children. I basically worship mine. Certainly they are not perfect and they do many things that get my blood boiling but I always remember they are young and it is my influence that will bring about the personalities they have.
I am not sure that I understood completely your thoughts on shame and if I seem off base please explain your questions further so I can have a better understanding.

im not a parent yet but maybe parents shame their children cause they don't know how to handle the situation? instead they will just save themselves and resulting to shaming their children.. or maybe that's not what the parent really wanted to happen, they just got misunderstood. my mum always says that she would never do anything to hurt us. but im not really sure. :)
