Before you go to work, do you still spend a few minutes trying to look good?

Before I go to work, I usually brush my hair many times, put on light make up, and make sure that my clothes are all pressed and neat. I put on perfume and a little accessories so that I will look and smell good. So, yes, I do give time in making myself look good before I go to work because I have this mindset that if I look good, I will feel good about myself at work. And when I feel good, my performance actually becomes good as well.
At times when I woke up late or was not in the mood for anything, I simply just make sure that my clothes are pressed, pull up my hair in a bun, and apply lipstick. Simple yet neat. At least I know I do not look horrible.
I think that it never hurts to try and look your best at work. Sometimes, people around you may give you the look if you do not pamper yourself a little bit. This may affect your mood as well if you are sensitive. Plus, it really feels good when people look at you and admire you because you look good! Isn't it a nice feeling? :)

Yes I do. Before, when I was working in the hospital as a medical clerk and intern, I would usually turn out late for a few minutes because I would spend so much time looking at myself at the mirror and trying to look good. It's better late than ugly. That was my motto before. Lol. But seriously, you are right. Looking neat and clean boosts self confidence. It even attracts compliments form others which in turn also add confidence to us. As a result, we feel better and we do our jobs better. So yes, there is no harm in taking that extra time to look good before work. It does wonders.

*Laugh.* Be careful.
I agree. It does wonders! And the perks of finding a rose on your office desk once in a while. Feeling good about yourself is very important. It gives you confidence in everything that you do.

yes, as always.. first, i put some concealer, foundation and powder then dry my hair. i don't like going to the office with a wet hair and sometimes you have a wet spot on your back.. i just don't like it. then when everything's ok and i'm ready to go, i take a moment.. at least 5mins and retouch my face.
i agree that it feels good to feel like you look good in public.. even if people won't say it, i still feel confident to walk around. hahaha..

Yes, it is good. But you ought to feel good about yourself all the time. That just means being clean and not-sick. And--you know--'neat,' straightened-out so 'your energy' flows smoothly
Your 'looking good so you feel good' reminds me of a scientific experiment that tested girls reactions to videos of guys wearing cologne to -videos of guys without cologne. Even though the guys were on video--and yes, it IS impossible to transmit smell by video--they preferred the guys who wore the cologne.
That tells us that part of cologne's effect is to fill the guy's own nose with 'the knowledge that he's got hours-of-wisdom on his side.'

It is always good to dress up before going to office. It boosts your confidence and can be lively for the whole day. I would suggest to take some time to dress up before to office.

Hi,I feel tat one needs to look neat and tidy while going out for work. There is no need to look like a fashion model but as you say it is good to be presentable and inspire confidence in others. It definitely will make us feel positive and face the day in a better frame of mind .One takes interest in looking good only when one is feeling good...

Hi dear,
Yes I do. I am particular that just before leaving home, I have done properly dressed. Though I have to travel around 1 hr. or more in the crowded train, I will make sure that I am neat and proper. As you said, my last pice of job at home is make sure that my hair is properly combed. I never happy on the hair part. After 5 mts. my hair will go untidy and I feel unconfortle on it. However, I won't spend much time for all these things and I want to make sure that I should not look unusual in dress and overall look.
Thank-s

I'm lucky I'm a guy and I don't have to spend a whole lot of time just to dress up.
Strange as it seems, I would say I don't spend anytime at all just so I can look good before going to work and even when go out to the town. I'm not a dressing kind of person.
I work at plant and our outfit are coverall and safety hard helmet along with safety boots. After taking a bath, I just put on my coverall and wear my Arsenal cap. Then off I go to work. My van pick me up at 5.20am, I still won't miss it even if wake up at 5.00am. It take me less than 15 minutes to get ready.

Yes, I always try to look good before I go to work. In my line of work (I am a teacher), it is a factor to look at your best. I and my co-teachers have this vocabulary - "dignified" look. We make fun of that word sometimes. Students can be quite a critic, so it's important that I dress properly and that my clothes do not distract their attention. Another thing is that looking good gives a sense of confidence. I agree with you when you said that when people admire you in terms of how you dress and carry yourself, it produces a nice feeling.

It can go miles if you fix yourself up. A friends is currently working on an engineering company and he introduced me to his colleague. She was not the prettiest but she was charming and well-dressed. She said she applied there without a diploma and she got accepted. I didn't have a diploma when I applied at the same company but all they said was the didn't accept undergraduates. Now, think whatever you want but I think it has something to do with her looks and how she carried it. She even made me buy her a cup of coffee without her asking.

Yes, certainly everyone loves to look beautiful in the world. And it is a truth also that everyone loves his/her physical assets, and grooming is the part which can improve your physical appearance. Everyone likes to be in the company of beautiful people but above all the inner beauty also appeals a lot. |
So, try to beautiful from both outer and inners sides!

I work at home so I don't really care too much unless i have client coming over. But when i was commuting, I was always concious of my appearance and so i would take a little extra time to make sure everything was right. Its true, this made me feel good to start the day.

Back at my previous work, I usually groom myself before I go to work. Even though I know I have to commute to go to work that means I will have to endure the stress and the pollution on the way, I still try to look neat. I just try to groom up again when I am at the office. hehehe... But now, I work in the province. My work is just near our house. The surrounding seems clean and fresh. So sometimes, I feel always clean and fresh. So what I do is just change clothes and even don't bother looking at the mirror. hahaha...

Hi,
For men, the basic principles of dressing casually and looking professional are extremely simple. They do not have to worry much about anything other than clothes and a hairbrush.
The other matching things which adds value are belts, shoes, watch, and a goggle to give a superb look and a finishing touch.
Sometimes, it depends on the company policy where you work. In India, there are some companies who do not allow Denims whereas some allow, and there are where only Denim is allowed.
What color you wear also affects your mood and efficiency. For example red color give energy and the person wearing red looks energetic. Blue gives stability and person looks calm and stable. Green is a soothing color and is good to wear.
I work from home, so I just start working without any tension of getting properly dressed and making sure that I look smart.
Further, as you can see, I even do not need a hairbrush at any time. LOL!
