What is reality then ?

Well ... I have started reading "The Grand Design" by Stephen Hawkins and there is chapter named "What is Reality ?". When I was reading I got many new things to think about and many things amazed me. I read about a philosopher named Berkeley's and his thought about existence of real world and came to know his philosophy which say - "It's only our mind & it's thought which exists in this world, nothing more." Isn't it's amazing to think and if we conclude on it then we loose all the hope & energy to live ... Thanks...
