Today I am feeling little better

The barefoot walking made my feet swell and so much painful. Massage with warm ‘mustard oil’ in which crystals of ‘menthol’ was dissolved gave some relief.
For the past few days I was almost confined to bed. I had to use a walker to go to toilet etc.
I always avoid painkillers; they are habit forming and may cause damage to kidneys in the long run.
How do you manage pain?
Do you take pain –relievers? Apply liniments, sprays, hot fomentations?
(We wrongly call them as ‘painkillers’; they never kill, just make you feel relieved)
Share your opinion please.

Hello sir,
What happened to you, why so pain in feet. I guess the problem is worst as you are using walker. Take rest and care to your health sir.
On pain I use tiger bam which is very efficient. I also hardly use pain killers.
Get well soon sir.

I look for every way I can to fix it first. After my two strokes my left arm continued to be partially numb. About four months later my neurologist figured out I had a pinched nerve. Four days later, its better. Swollen, sore feet: I rarely go barefoot outside the house but still...I have insoles for my shoes to support my arches. People reach for medication far too much for pain relief. Unless it keeps me from sleeping I avoid taking any. Even aspirin is hard on the stomach. They recommend low dose aspirin taken daily to prevent stroke and heart attack. So the question is- Heart? Or stomach?

Hi Bhuwanji
If i feel pain in the feet, or swelling in the feet, i will immerse my feet in 1/4 bucket of hot water to which salt, soap solution or shampoo is added. after 15 mts i will clean the feet with pumice and apply mustard oil and wear socks and slipper. Next day swelling will be gone. I will cut down intake of salt as it retains the water in the body and so the body swells.

Happy to know that you are feeling better now after experiencing some pain. I also avoid painkillers, they will create a medical store inside and if we keep using medicines for every problem, teh day will come when no medicine will be effective so better to avoid medicines as far as possible.
I try not to take medicines and try to sleep. Oil massage is good way of getting relief and I can fall sleep. After sleep pain is less and recovery is fast.
Thank you for sharing.

Very sorry to hear that you are bedridden. As you are a very active member of mylot I thought you are a very healthy person. We pray for yor early recovery..As regards pain killers if you take them frequently even when pain is manageble it becomes habit forming. There is nothing wrong in taking pain killers once in away. They give immediate relief. What else is there?Fomentation gives adverse effects subsequntly.Taking rest is another way to get relief. What ever method you are adopting we all wish you ealy recovery..

You seem to be more involved in mylot starting very lengthy discussions at the cost of your health. It makes no difference whether the discussion is lenthy or short as long as you make your point clear. You say you are taking rest but you are promptly posting coments.Even workin in mylot is a stress.Any way take care and you are the best judge.Pray early recovery..

Hi Professor, I hope that you will be feeling better soon and I agree with you about the painkillers. We are always better of using home remedies, although few do so in our modern world. I can handle pain for a while and refuse to take any medication until I have no choice. Blessings.

I have to take pain killers like aspirins, tylenol or ibufropen! I can't tolerate a lot of pain! I just can't! I have also had surgeries in the past and I was very glad I had pain medication for that! I would of gone nuts without it! I know it can be habit forming and can do kidney damage. I'll take the risk!

In spite of regular walking my feet swell when standing for long and also due to strain. So i can understand your problem. I too massage the feet with garlic pods in hot mustard oil. They give good relief. Soaking the feet in hot(according to one's resistance)salty water also gives relief. Less of walking for a day or two gets you back to normal but till then one has to suffer the pain. Thanks for the information. I never knew that tiger balm can relieve the pain.
Happy mylotting.

There is time when I got ancient and got few stitches I usually given pain killers to ease the pain. I will take it because its help me not to much feel the pain. Thats the only time I got pain killer. If I got headache or my hand hurt I usually just eat with balance food and go to sleep. Which I think the best remedy for all sickness.

My left shoulders are usually in pain when i stay in front of the computer too long and chatting. So after a warm bath, i would apply a liniment. The liniment that i use is a propolis and cider liniment so it's really special because all the ingredients are natural and no harmful chemicals at all.
