Are people becoming more and more offish now?

Recently I have read the news which made me feel that some people are really offish as social animal. I am so shocked when I see it on TV that a crowd of teachers(In which there are lots of males) could look on with folded arms when a junior high school girl was beaten by some bludgers without even mediating. Also I remembered a tragedy last year, that is wrecking company actually refused to salvage the bodies of some heros' bodies(who sacrifice their lives to save the children slip and fall into the water) just because they had not got enough money. What do you think?

I think that standoffish attitude has been around for a lot longer than we think. But I agree that it is manifesting itself more in society today. When we take our children to school we like to think that the teachers will protect them from harm. It seems though that it is these same teachers we trust with our children that are harming the children. This is evident in the ever increasing cases of molestations and neglect by teachers. As regards the individuals that chose to refuse to do their work because of problems with their salaries, it is a shame that these individuals choose those moments where exposure is multiplied to aire there grievances. They take out their grievances on those they are supposed to serve and not on those that cause them. Regretfully, it shows the negative sides of human nature.

Good point! I agree with you a lot. It is a fantastic explanation for why people are standoffish to others. That is naybe when it is not their day, they would choose to vent their angers on others rather than try to find ways to solve it. They would like to take themselves as the most pitiful guys around the world and thus have the most excuse to refuse to help others.

I think the old saying "misery loves company" holds in this case. People just seem to want to drag others down with them. The bad thing is that when they are doing good, you don't see them involving others. It's only when they have problems that we see them taking it out on others.

You are right!! Apparently this world is becoming a terrible place to live in! A few days back one young man was shot 5 times in the head in front of the police who did nothing! Did not move so much as a muscle!! So i am not sure if the lay man is to blame if he is not doing anything about it!!
I think this all starts when you stop yourself from correcting the little follies so that when you turn a blind eye to the bigger stuff it doesn't bother you at all!!

in todays society people look forward to receive compensation before they can render assistance rather than rendering assistance without having the taught of being acknowledge.

Yeah you made a very good point. Nowadays children are always taught to do what is good to themselves without considering others, and they are becoming more and more selfish as time went by. Also the society is filled with the eagerness for quick success and instant benefit,less and less people would like to spare some time to help others. What a sad truth.

Today's population's in sensitiveness towards their fellow is a result of love for material things. People are disintegrated,separated, discriminated, manipulated and exploited because we all love abundance, affluence . We struggle for power ,money and fame. As long as this earth is materially based, we can see people turning against each other to have power over the other!

That's it! People are more and more eager to seek for material possessions rather than spiritual values. That will be a terrible thing for that if it can not be corrected, people will not be self-centered and the world will be so cold.

Increasingly complex social environment, people increasingly harsh living conditions,increasing pressure on people. Therefore, in order to protect their own, everyone in the whole body a layer of crust, so the relationship seems to become more and more indifferent society as a whole has.

Yeah, it is also a reason for people's unconcern about others. When one is busy doing their own things, they would not spare time with others. But when we are unsatisfied with the situation, actually every one of us is "contributing" to the case.
