Why do rate "post"?

Okay i have read the rating guidelines and my perception is that when you do this you judge the kind of discussion you are reading and posting..it can either be negative or positive, you will either rate it + or - based on what you feel about it. but tell me, what really makes you rate the post, for me i don't think it's important. most mylotters here said if you see violence in the words, just report it.

Hello again Rebe, reputation effects our earnings - when it's high there is some little difference between our earnings than they would be if it's low. I rate by myself nearly always positive. Because i like positive people and i love to be a part of the group, who would high the reputation of the nice people. That's how we say each other - thank you for being so nice and helpful for me with that share experience, example or like that (personal opinion). Negative rating i give to rude people who doesn't appreciate the help which others give to them. Also people, who are arrogant and insult the others. We are not here to make the day of the others worst, we are here for our own pleasure and to participate that way so the society spirit and conversations to be nice (my own opinion too). Reports are for violations. There is nothing between reputation and reports. For bad attitude against me or some other members - i give negative rating, because i don't think someone deserve to be victim of bad behavior of the others. Violations are something else, which admin can remove.

I rate members here as a way to say thank you for posting in my discussion. If you rate them you are increasing their reputation and also giving them the chance to earn more in this site. So that's why i do it to say thank you for participating in my discussion. I hope you would do the same so that you can help fellow members in here earn more.

Hello again, RebeLotter, I've noticed something wrong in your topic: "it can either be negative or positive". There is another option in the FAQs: "If you have no strong opinions either way, you should not rate the topic, response, comment, or photo. Many actions are indeed "neutral" and should not be rated at all." http://www.mylot.com/o/faq/faq17.aspx I must admit I use this option most often than the other two. I seldom use the negative rating. When I'm caught into an interesting discussion, I do rate positively the other myLotters who participate in that discussion.
