Carnvial Cruise or other cruise? How much does it cost for 2? I need a vacation!

I really need to take a vacation soon! I have been thinking about taking a Carnival cruise or a cruise with another line. I just saw an ad on television saying that they have cruises starting at $79 a day. That's not too bad when you factor in the cost of a hotel, mode of travel, and food are included in that price. Well on this ad I saw they had fine print at the end and I paused the tv to see what it said. It said "The company reserves the right to re-instate the fuel supplement for all guests at up to $9 per person per day if the NYMEX oil price exceeds $70 per barrel. Cruise fares only. Gov't taxes and fees ($20-$280) additional per person. Restrictions apply. Full details on Carnvial.com Ships' Registry: The Bahamas & Panama.". So does this mean that it could potentially be an additional $280 per person AND the $9 a day per person? If so, then that would not be such a great deal in my opinion. So, has anyone ever gone on a cruise? What should I be budgeting for something like this for me and my husband? I really would like to go but I don't want to break the bank. Looking forward to your input...happy myLotting and have a great day!!!

I've never been on a cruise, but it is most definitely something that I would like to do at some point during my life. That said, my cousin and his wife went on a cruise a couple years ago over the Christmas holiday and they said that they had a wonderful time. It is my understanding that the cost that you are going to have to pay for the cruise that you intend to take is what you pay when you book for your trip.

I have been on a cruise before and it really is a great vacation. The food is amazing, there is PLENTY of entertainment, pools, man this list could get huge. We went on a carnival cruise and it was just great. We actually just used the carnival website and went with one of their package deals. It turned out to be very inexpensive for 4 people to go. Considering most entertainment is included, food is included, and your room. Really the only extra cost is drinks and any excursions you want to take at each destination. I really reccomend going on a Carnival cruise.

I would like to go on a cruise but close to shore. The thought of miles of water underneath me gives me the creeps. My son went on an Alaskan cruise with his grandparents years ago and has had bowel problems ever since. Think of all that garbage and waste sitting there for days and days! No wonder people get sick. I've been doing research for articles about honeymoon cruises recently and you can get a cruise of the Hawaiian Islands for under $2000 per person. Or you can stay closer to home and cruise the Bahamas or Key West for about $800 per person. You're blessed to be able to afford a vacation. Let us know where and when you're going so we can enjoy it vicariously!

I've never been on a large cruise ship before but I've heard some horror stories. Most of these cruise lines are owned by companies in other countries whose health guidelines are nowhere near as strict as ours. These cruise lines are able to get away with much less in the way of security and health issues than if they were owned by United States companies. Our regulations are a lot stricter. I've read stories of people dying because of the lack of health facilities onboard some of these cruise lines. One of them didn't even have a doctor on board, only a nurse. I'm not trying to disuade you from taking a cruise but you need to look at these things from all angles. Check out which country these ships are registered in and then check for health regulations, safety regulations, privacy regulations, etc. for those specific cruise lines. I think I'd much rather take a flight to an island somewhere and lie out on the beach for a week than taking my chances on a cruise ship. St. Thomas Island in the Virgin Islands would be my first choice. Good luck and have fun whatever you decide! Take lots of photos so we can all see!!!
