Cybex machine burns more calories?

I have recently signed up to go to a gym, and they have a new cardio machine made by Cybex. It's a mix between an elliptical and stairmaster, but it burns about 1/3 more calories than any other cardio machine. Can anyone tell me how this is possible b/c I feel like I'm exerting less energy on it. Thanks!
