Please share with us which scriptures have helped you to cope with or to overcome depression:
Psalm 34:17 - Tells us when are righteous people, the Lord hears our prayers and delivers us from our problems.
Isaiah 43:2 - Isaiah counsels us that when we pass through tribulations he will save us from destruction.
Psalm 30:5 - This scripture is great because we are told the Lord's anger stops quickly. Our crying out in sorrow does not last very long.
Last but not least here is one of my favorite references:
It is from Philippians 4:8 - Whatever is of good or "praiseworthy" ponder on them!
Now if you have some favorite Bible verses, please share them in this interest group.

Years back, I would often get depressed when asking in prayer. It was one need after another after another and after another. However, the Holy Spirit quickened to my mind the following Holy Scripture: Php 4:6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. In particular was the phrase "with thanksgiving." So I began to praise and thank God first, then ask, thank and praise Him again, then ask, and so. The praise would be associated with a Biblical fact about God. Healing? Praise Him that He is the Great Physician, and by the stripes of Christ we are healed. Discord in marriage? Praise Him that He is the God of true pure love and peace. And so on.

I try not to be depressed, as being Christians we should always be happy. That being said, we will have trying times, but they just help us to grow closer to the Lord and He gives us strength to cope with what we are going through. The verse that I use to help me through the trying times is Proverbs 3:5-6, which says: Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not to your own understanding. In all they ways acknowledge them and He will direct thy paths. I take those versed with me wherever I go, as they give me lots of comfort. May God bless you in all things.
